Boxing Day is thus termed because it is meant to be the day on which you receive and open Christmas presents from your employees, since most presents are given and opened on Xmas day or before.. the term has lost it's meaning and the day is now just the day on which you recover from Xmas AND start shopping at the Winter Sales.
