STREET STYLE IN MALTA Vol 2 - Fashion Week Edition

Although Malta’s fashion week might not be the huge worldwide phenomena and street style stage such as the ones in London or Milan, our local fashionistas certainly know a thing or two about attending in style. The great thing about fashion weeks, in general, is that they seem to unleash a certain measure of style creativity and extract more willingness to step away from the little black dress and experiment a little bit.

I was especially pleased to see a lot of bright colours around and even some pattern mixing. Some key trends and looks which I spotted were: shorts and blazers / jackets for the guys - Malta’s climate doesn’t provide a great platform for this look so I get quite excited when I see it.

Statement jewellery - although delicate jewellery has made a recent return to the fashion world, statement jewellery is still going strong especially when it comes to necklaces. Monochrome is extremely popular again this season, my preference for summer is when a little bit of colour is injected. I also noticed a lot of T-Bar sandals cladding many feet as well as a some sneakers and interesting brogues (both male and female). Some statement and quirky bags also played guests at various events.

London Fashion Week : Bora Aksu A/W 15

Bora Aksu is a Turkish designer that believes in intricate detailing, that always tells a story with his collections. The story this time round is inspired from the song bird in Oscar Wilde's The Nightingale and the Rose  -  ' a lone nightingale that makes the ultimate sacrifice in the pursuits of another's love '.

The pieces are splendid with a display of a high level of workmanship. Long, lean silhouettes in places combined with voluminous textures and delicate embroidered dresses in others.  There's a definite air of femininity in this collection that is wonderful to see in a sea of largely androgynous fashion. The lilac hand sewn roses adorning the dresses stole my heart along with the gold thread woven textiles.

Interesting Note - Presenter Laura Whitmore walked in the show looking rather different with this hair style.

Urban Travel : Time for a CUPPA

Winter is all about casual wear and comfortable, warm clothes, for me, one of the most essential winter wardrobe items is a good anorak that will protect you from the wind and rain ...most people tend to buy black anoraks but I like the idea of a bright one, like this one from MEXX, something that can brighten up a gloomy day. I'm also quite obsessed with beanies..you may have realised....not only do they keep you warm but they also hide bad hair :D

The problem with having a photographer-husband and asking him to shoot your outfits is that sometimes you end up with photos you haven't asked for - I did plan to shoot this outfit, but I was simply enjoying a cup of green tea and looking at the view out of the window when he very sneakily drew up beside me and started clicking away (the last one is a half pose after I semi agreed)...and then flat out refused to shoot the outfit again ....

New Look Campaign - 3 Trends in 1

Some time ago I posted a behind-the-scenes post of the New Look Blogger Campaign I took part in - the shoot is finally out - wohooo. The idea was to showcase the different trend sections in the New Look range.

First up is the MOD GIRL - mod girl is the modern girl with 60s inspired short shift dresser, higher but clean necklines and lots of grid patterns. I chose this classic grid dress and layered over it a beautiful pink coat and scarf. I chose trainers to complete this comfy outfit.

BOHO LUXE is the next trend. I chose to wear long layers over a boxy top and torn skinny jeans. The fur touch, smartens up the outfit and makes it easy to transition from day-to-night, maybe by simply removing the pink cardigan.

WILD WEST is next up and a fringed kimono makes an appearance. These must be the comfiest trousers / pants I have ever worn and absolutely in love with these boots.
