My Styling Work : Forbidden Love - Editorial for Ritienne Zammit

The tale of forbidden love is an old one indeed, for centuries doomed lovers have defied boundaries, defied parents and rules to declare their love for each other. But what happens when in spite of war, in spite of family, in spite of cultural differences and traditions two destined lovers' paths cross ? Forbidden love can exist within a bubble but reality will always come knocking and the bubble always bursts....

Ritienne Zammit's latest collection is an explosion of brocade, religious references, damask and brocade rich patterns and wonderful accessories.

Brand Spotlight : Unode50 supports RETT research

Spanish fashion has a certain recognizable, original flair that is nearly always evident in their designs. UNOde50 is no exception, a jewellery brand founded in the late 1990s by a group of designers, the main focus of the band has always been create something different and in fact the reputation of the band is one of flair and innovation. The interesting part is the fact that only 50 units of each design are created (bet you were wondering what's the 50 in the name). I visited their beautiful store in Rome on Via Frattina just after coincidentally, I was approached by this company in view of a collaboration which involved me picking my favourite thing from their online store.

On a more somber note you may have hear of the rare syndrome Rett, a congenital disease that affects girls between the ages of one and four. Unode50 is a supporter of ongoing medical research in this field and they've come up with a way to do this by incorporating fashion and jewellery. They create Rett bracelets (pic below) that "feature a silver-plated badge with tiny hands opening up in the form of angel wings (referring to the slogan "Silent Angels", documentary hosted by Julia Roberts) as a symbol of hope, the other side contains the name "Rett" with an inverted "R" - this serves to remind us that this is a rare disease". I picked this bracelet as my top product because it serves to remind us of the struggles different people go through in their lives and encourages us to help in anyway that we can.

Interesting side note is that they've also released child versions now and you can buy a special child and adult pack for 49 euros (adult alone is 29 euros).

Of course besides the Rett bracelets there's some lovely jewellery on the site and lots of other bracelets for women here are some of my favourite items. That leather and silver bracelet is a great combination of stylish and edgy and I'm in love with these horn-shaped earrings that I' imagining worn with an ultra feminine dress.

Outfit Post : The Adventures of the BLUE Sunglasses - The End - featuring BIRKENSTOCKS, PATCHED DENIM & HEADBANDS

This is the story of a pair of Blue Sunglasses. Like all good tales  -  this story has a beginning, a middle and an end. I have decided to tell this story backwards, to start with the end ..for no good reason except that this story has a happy ending and I'd like to start with the happy bit first. This part of the story is the tale of the Return.

Since the colour blue is predominantly tied to boys, I have attributed the male gender to the blue sunglasses character in this story.

The blue sunglasses were weary and tired from all the adventures but had had a chance to rest over the last few days and recover his strength. His adventures had made him famous, he had been featured in pictures across the web and his life had been very exciting. However, he felt sad; he missed her, SHE had not shared in his good fortune, SHE probably still stood on that same shelf waiting for another life, waiting in hope.

The blue sunglasses felt himself being moved - time for another adventure. Off he went, this time around the island of Malta, boats, cars and sun all loomed in front of him and he eagerly drank it all in. After a few hours, the final destination of the day seemed to be approaching and as it loomed ahead in the distance, there was a tug of familiarity, a feeling of deja vu.....he had been here before. That moment was when the blue sunglasses realised that he was being taken back, back to the place* where the story started, back to the place before all the adventures. The blue sunglasses was scared, what if this was the end ...what if he was no longer wanted, no longer desired ? As he entered that place he spotted her, there she was, still there, still waiting and then something incredible happened, blue sunglasses felt himself being removed and put away and he watched as SHE was pulled off the shelf and then suddenly they were leaving...BLUE sunglasses scarcely dared to hope..was SHE to join him ?

That evening blue sunglasses and green sunglasses were reunited, time apart had made them realise their love for each other and they vowed to never be separated again.

*The place in question is Solaris Malta Sliema, No Sunglasses were harmed in he making of this story. BLUE and she-without-a-name are still united and together.

In this part of the story, a pair of animal print BIRKENSTOCKS also get featured - these are a speciality spinoff pair from the division called Papillio, they still have the ultra comfy Birkenstock footbed but super interesting designs (bought from Rome)

A headband from Yana's jewellery also makes an appearance - check out how pretty it is...perfect for that summer bohemian vibe.

A patched denim skirt also had its first outing...I'm really into this whole patched denim thing, it's so much fun and adds so much interest to plain denim. IMO, a good denim skirt is a truly wonderful thing to own, it can easily be dressed up with a pair of high heels or dressed down with flats ..a smart top makes it suitable for a more formal outing whilst a plain t-shirt is great for a relaxed look.

Outfit Post : Gold and Colour Blocks at a Wedding

A few weeks ago two good friends of mine tied the knot and celebrated with a lovely and original reception at Popeye's Village. I decided to wear a new dress by JOVONNA that I find very original, it's a mixture of pattern overlay and pleats with leather side buckles. Photos by Kurt Paris

Do you recall the ALDO X OSTWALD HELGASON shoes I told you I bought in this post - here they are :D

It was a hot day so I decided my hair should go up - as usual no one beats Svetlana at Toni and Guy Hilton Malta. And a big thanks to my mummy for his beautiful necklace she just gifted me.

My Styling Work : ILSIEN IN-NISA & CHARLES&RON

For my Maltese readers, local designers Charles and Ron should need no introduction, they are without a doubt currently, Malta's hottest designers. The duo have been producing beautiful collections for many years, with their latest ones being instant sell outs. On the same vein of thought, the local television programme ILSIEN IN-NISA should also need no introduction, with very engaging beautiful hosts and a varied weekly programme, including interesting weekly guests, it's been a success story for them.

At this point, you may be wondering what Charles and Ron, ILSIEN IN-NISA & Caroline's Fashion Styling have in common - here it comes - the new winter season of ILSIEN IN-NISA is soon approaching and there have been some changes -  it seems a male presence is now coming on board - guess who ?.

A new season means a new photoshoot and I was asked to style these fabulous ladies. One of the first photos has been published and the girls are wearing none other than CHARLES&RON's latest collection.  The Charles & Ron’s Spring/Summer 2015 Collection was presented at Malta Fashion Week last May and their concept and underlying theme was our beautiful capital city Valletta (Humilissima Civitas Valletta).

Their idea for this collection was, that they wanted the woman who wears their clothes to feel proud to wear her capital city, a city of splendor and magnificent architecture, just like they want a woman to feel when she wears their clothes. Charles and Ron was the natural choice of designer for the ILSIEN IN-NISA photoshoot. First off, these women all have close blood ties to the city, they are also lovely, lovely people who although proud of who they are and what they have achieved through this programme. They are also very humble, just like our capital city and on a side note, are very easy to work with - although they aren't 6ft tall like the models at fashion week,  they certainly pulled the outfits off.

The ILSIEN IN-NISA ladies definitely have enough character, talent & style to give the heart the collection merits.

Now what we want to know is

- WHO is the MAN?

Outfit Post : Pink Flamingos at Alta Roma and Giada Curti

Last Saturday in Rome, as Ferramoda Malta's stylist and representative, I attended the Giada Curti fashion show at AltaRoma. It took place at the Hotel Excelsior on Via Veneto in the grand ballroom, a truly beautiful and stunning room that really fit the concept of these luxurious intricate pieces and Arabic theme. Giada Curti's designs are heavily influenced by the beauty of Dubai and the Arabian landscapes and fashion style.

The capsule haute couture collection was titled Shukran, thank you in Arabic. She presented long dresses made with luxurious materials such as satin, chantilly lace, muslin and silk and draped to flow and skim across the body. . The colours of the pieces were muted and dreamy, in a reference to the Dubai desert landscape.
Beautiful turbans with intricate detailing were worn by each of the models and added to the exotic feeling the show evoked.

Before this show, I also attended an exhibition (more on that to come) so I was out quite early on and as such needed an outfit that would work for both. I decided to wear a knitted dress I had purchased a couple of years previously from an Italian independent designer Ilaria, her brand is called Flamingo Therapy. Funnily enough, I had found her in London at Old Spitalfields Market....she has some truly wonderful stuff. I also took my brand new vintage Chanel earrings (bought in Rome) out for their frist outing, they were very appreciative :)

These shoes from Zara are one of my best 204 purchases, I've been wearing them a LOT, simply because they are really comfortable and easy to walk on.

Beauty Post : Let's STRIPE a Nail

I've decided to start a post featuring my updated nails every three weeks - done by Christina at Femme Beauty in Attard. For this edition I was in a nautical mood and hence the blue and white stripes. On another note the Gellish products really seem to be agreeing with my nails, they've never been so strong and in such great condition - I'm really impressed.

Travel Post : Snapshots from ROME

Besides attending AltaRoma, there were other things I did in ROme, like walk on those pretty cobbled streets for hours on end, eat lots of ice cream, eat lots of spaghetti carbonara, visit some beautiful buildings, go shopping... lots of fun stuff. Rome is a wonderful city, this was my third time visiting and it was lovely because there wasn't the usual hustle of trying to cram all the important sights in a few days, this time I had time to just walk around, people watch, absorb the pulse of the city and absorb the food..lots and lots of delicious food.

Some interesting highlights were - visiting the Colosseum underground tour, it is now possible to visit down below in the pits from where the gladiators once entered the arena and also walk up to the very top (a tour must be pre-booked by phone). The Andy Warhol exhibition was a great insight into the life and art of this man as was the adjoining Terry O'Neil one. The Monti neighborhood has some excellent up and coming designers that create some really great stuff, dodging the various Roman drivers intent on running you over as you cross the road on zebra crossings is always fun. Last but not least, shopping around Piazza di Spagna is always a highlight and of course just simply having a coffee in one of the many piazzas and soaking it all in..

Some snapshots I took whilst roaming around the Eternal City.

Outfit Post : AltaRoma - Pink Shoes and Red Hair at Carlo Alberto Terranova

The first night of AltaRoma brought lots of excitement, hair frustration (it simply refused to look good whatever I did - where's Toni and Guy Malta when I need them) I attended Carlo Alberto Terranova's show at Palazzo Braschi, Piazza Navona, another stunning Palazzo. Speaking of Toni and Guy - what do you think of my new hair colour? It's a purplish red stain, I love the way the curls look multi-coloured when they catch the light.
I took this dress, by Custo Barcelona, up to Rome with me specifically for the occasion but I still needed the perfect shoes which I found in Zara, I had had my eye on these shoes ever since I saw them in Zara in Florence last March but I stopped myself buying them..they were marked down now ...and well ....I needed them for AltaRoma right ?..They're so pink and pretty.... and so HORRIBLE to walk with on Rome's cobbled streets..definitely lost some ankle lifetime that night.

Outfit Post : Alta Roma Outfit - Hearts & Fringes at Grimaldi

My trip to Rome and AltaRoma was a bit of a spur-of-the moment decision (thanks Ferramoda)  and I didn't really have time to properly plan outfits etc. Not to worry, there a lots of shops in Rome. As you must have heard me mention a few times already, when possible, I do like to wear a piece the designer has created when I attend said designer's show. For Antonio Grimaldi's show, I visited his boutique in central Rome (Via della Vite) and bought one of his tees with his signature heart logo emblazoned on the front. It has a nice fit and I think the pattern logo is lovely.

I'm also sporting a brand new Coccinelle bag, a leather skirt from Zara which I also bought from Rome and my also brand new Dolce and Gabbana shades from Solaris Malta and a vintage Chanel necklace I treated myself to also from Rome.
