Brand Spotlight : Let's get CURED

If you haven't yet stumbled across RECURED on facebook and other social media, you're not spending enough time there. What with photoshoots with the gorgeous girls from supernovamodel.com, a very interesting facebook page, and people taking photos wearing Agatha Barbara's face - it's fair to say there's been a bit of a splash in the newsfeed. I decided it's time to find out a bit more as to what it's all about

Recured...a lot of people are eager to know more about what Recured is all about, let's start with  Who are you, What do you do ? &&  Where do you come from && What's in the name?
Recured. is a brand established in Malta by a group of Maltese partners. The partners are young individua;s with big dreams and big plans who are currently juggling between studies and developing Recured.  From the very beginning, when we were still in the planning ad design phase, the concept of the brand has always revolved around being CURED. Initially, the brand was going to be called Irrecured, but we wanted to give it a more positive ring to it so it developed into RECURED with CURE as its variant and be the cure.

Who is the Recured man and who is the Recured woman?
Well this is a tough one. The Recured woman is without any doubt our neighborhood gal Agatha Barbara. The Recured Man is still in the works.

Are your pieces limited edition or exclusive in any way...what we want to know is - is there a chance of them running out ?
Each collection launched will have a limited edition piece that will be restocked for a period of time only, the rest of the pieces will be limited to the period of time the collection is launched for. For example, the summer collection will only be restocked for the duration of summer then making way for the new winter collection.

How do we get one?
Recured shall be made available through its Official Website launching on the 3rd of July. For the more traditional shoppers, Recured shall be available for sale at the Riot outlet at The Plaza on the same Date.

Future plans and do you plan to launch more designs?
Definitely! The initial 5 products shall be supplemented frequently throughout the summer season so as to produce a vast summer 14’ collection. The designing team is already hard at work drawing up the Winter 14/15 collection - this is going to encompass a range from bomber jackets to sweatpants! Recured plans to go abroad, meetings with foreign international brands are currently underway, to launch the collections not only in Malta but even abroad.

The website launches on the 3rd July - so calendar the date and happy shopping :)

Shopping Post : Rising on your big toes for ALDO RISE x OSTWALD HELGASON

ALDO RISE is an initiative by ALDO to support daring designs within the world of fashion. Previous collaborations included Peen and this year they collaborated with London-based street style label OSTWALD HELGASON. Susanne Ostwald and Ingvar Helgason (German-Icelandic couple) are the brains behind their exciting designs.

Why am I talking about this ? Well the collection has finally made it to the ALDO store at The Point, Malta along with some bags too (photo below).

This is is pretty great as generally I've found that, ignoring the fact that Maltese people love and buy designer labels, with most high-street franchises, their more expensive/special lines rarely make it to our island. I know we can buy whatever we want online or when we travel ...but it's not really the point, it's a step in the right direction that the brand has chosen to market their designer collection in Malta - so I'm smiling and giving a thumbs up to ALDO.

Of course, I had to own a pair of these babies myself and went to get a pair yesterday :D. I'm not telling which ones I chose (you know the drill...wait for the outfit post) but they are all pretty amazing and I did spend 15 minutes deliberating between two styles.

Some official photos from the campaign that include the design process.

Outfit Post : Welcoming the UGLY SHOE Trend

First off, apologies because this post should have been published a few weeks ago but as you may have noticed, I'm on a bit of a downtime at the moment - trying to take some more time off and enjoy life's little luxuries like football, a good book and sun and well of course a spot of shopping here and there. Relaxing time notwithstanding though, I decided it's time to publish this post before it expires - so here goes.

You maybe have noticed that there are a lot of 'ugly shoes' floating around this summer...well not really ugly imo but that's how the trend that encompasses Teva, Birkenstocks and Prada sporty-type sandals has been nicknamed.

I've actually always had a soft spot for this style of shoe and I think it works wonderfully with certain outfits, infact I bought my first pair of Birkenstocks back in 2008 when celebrities had made them a bit popular (nothing like this season's popularity though).

Jogging your memory to a post I wrote a month of so ago, when I featured a shoe shop that sells comfortable shoes (Anastasi in Valletta), I did mention that I went home with something to wear backstage at Malta Fashion Week and wear them I did...these photos were all taken backstage during one of the events I worked in.

I'm also wearing a striped top under a denim dress which I think is actually quite cool ..what do you think ?

Dress : Vintage
Scarf : Jennyfer
Shoes : Picadilly (Anastasi Shoe Store in Malta)

Shopping Post : Let's Look Inside MAX&Co

A few weeks ago, I released the super-exciting-lets-dance-a-jig news that come next September I will be a brand ambassador for Max&Co Malta which means lots of lovely outfits and some other Max&Co-related posts.

From feedback I received, it seems there are still some of you out there who aren't that familiar with the brand. For starters just a little bit of info re the brand -  Max&Co is an Italian fashion brand and a member company of the Max Mara Fashion Group and of course there are stores across Europe. What I really love about the clothes is that they are a fusion of contemporary designs (some of them could even be called eclectic) and Italian quality and tailoring, in other words they are right up my alley.

I visited the shop last week for this week's edition of Caroline hits a shop and shows you what's in stock and snapped a few pics of my favourite items, I'm particularly in love with the yellow section...yellow remains one of my favourite colours for summer...and this season it seems like it's even more fashionable than the previous years.

LOVEEE those shoes

Obsessed with this pantsuit

Patterned Denim is always fabulous
Obligatory mirror selfie - with these awesome wide legged cropped trousers - amazing if you'e tall

BTW MAX&Co is located in Sliema right next to the Car Park, ICentre and Next

OUTFIT POST : THE CURLS ARE BACK AND WHAT I WORE TO PINK

I'm not sure if you all know my hair is curly, I had the Brazilian Keratin treatment applied last December so there was 6 months straight of straight hair (pun intended). It's now summer and I love curly hair in summer plus the Keratin has somewhat worn off soooo it's back to my organic & original curls. They made their first comeback public appearance at the PINK fashion show last week and it's quite funny - when I first went from curly to straight lots of people didn't recognise me, now it's straight back to curly and the same thing happened..funny how familiar with something we can get.

For the pink event I decided it was the perfect occasion to wear my new Marc Jacobs pyjama shirt that I bought a while ago but never got round to wearing and a brand new pair of shorts by Marc Cain. My earrings are actually thrifted from an outdoor market in Gozo and of course I just had to add a Coccinelle bag.

Bag : Coccinelle

Shoes : Zara

Interview Spotlight - Emma Camilleri - A Girl with a Fashion Dream

Today we shine the spotlight on Emma Camilleri, a young girl with a lot of energy and a lot of passion and love for fashion - on the 7th July she begins her second internship at Temperly London and she's also recently started her own fashion blog - read on to find out what it's like to intern at a large fashion house and what makes Emma tick.

So, who is Emma?
This is a tough question! Emma is a 22 year old design student, very family oriented- they’re the best! I love animals, I'm a very athletic person I love training it’s a great stress reliever, I'm passionate about travelling and learning new things, very organized, I love all things white, and all things French! I think I was born in the wrong era, I love old movies, vintage clothing, French jazz like Edith Piaf, I’m an old soul haha! I think I'm creative and I love thinking abstractly, quite a perfectionist, quite driven and focused, especially when its something I'm passionate about I give it my all.

"I've always been interested in fashion, for as long as I remember"

When did your interest in fashion first begin?
I've always been interested in fashion, for as long as I remember, as cliché as it sounds I remember going through my mums wardrobe and mixing and matching outfits, or at my Grandmother’s house making dresses out of her silk scarves. I remember designing outfits for my barbies, so I guess the answer is always.

You interned at Temperly..and you're interning again there this summer...how did that happen and what will your role be this summer?
I had been looking for an opportunity to get involved in the fashion world, and after I had to turn down studying at Polimoda, Uni of Westminster and University of the Arts London, due to finances, I was more determined than ever to do it on my own, so I sent out hundreds of cvs and letters of applications hoping someone would answer, and Temperley was the only one that did!

My role will entail assisting with the organization of samples, swatch cards or other sales tools in the showroom prior to market season as well as recording all incoming sample invoices for accounting. Further, I will also prepare reports for the merchandising team as well as seasonal trend reports. There will also be miscellaneous projects such as creating best selling style sheets by model and fabrication for each brand.

What was your most memorable experience throughout the internship?
Every single day was an amazing experience, I’m so grateful for all of it, I always had different tasks so no day was the same - whether I’d be making distribution lists, packing for Milan or new york, steaming dresses, setting up the showroom, sitting in on buying meetings, attending the Temperley show, it was all memorable.

Is fashion your full-time job? What is your main bread-and-butter?
Since I’m still a fill time student (BA (hons) 3D design at MCAST), no, but that’s my goal, once I graduate hopefully I’ll move abroad and pursue it.

"my blog should represent me, should not try to imitate others"

You've recently started a blog too…what inspires you as a fashion blogger? Is there anyone or anything that you feel has influenced your blogging style?
It’s all quite new to me, having only started it in October. Its something I've been wanting to do for a while, and it all started with constant support from my friends and family, they really pushed me into doing it. Everything inspires me, from travelling, to films, to just walking around, to art, I think you can find inspiration in anything. I try not to get influenced by other bloggers as I feel like my blog should represent me, should not try to imitate others.

Which fashion designer inspires you most?
This is a tough question, as each season I have different favourites but when I seek inspiration I always go back to Chanel and Dior’s early years, the height of couture, Yves Saint Laurent, Balmain, Lanvin, Givenchy. I’m obsessed with the 1920’s up to the 60s, such glamour and style!

"Everything inspires me, from travelling, to films, to just walking around, to art, I think you can find inspiration in anything"

How would you describe your own personal style? Do you feel as though your style is still developing or have you found your ‘look’?
One of my biggest fashion icons is Audrey Hepburn, she emanates style and poise, she wasn’t interested in looking sexy, she was classy and elegant and those are things which I admire a lot. My grandmother was also an inspiration, looking through old photos of her she was always so beautifully dressed and very refined and graceful, it left a huge impact on me. When I put together an outfit I always try to express my mood, sometimes I want to look chic and classical, other times trendy and hip, but I think I have found “my look” - a lot of people describe it as Parisian, which I find to be a huge compliment as I love Parisian style, minimal and timeless.

Follow Emma on Style Stalker and here's wishing her lots of luck and best wishes for her internship.

What do you think ? Any words of encouragement for Emma ?

EVENTS POST : CATWALK PHOTOS - TIMES OF MALTA PINK FASHION SHOW

For those who couldn't be there ...here are a few catwalk pics taken by my hubby Kurt Paris.

A few words about the models' (all from supernovamodel.com) look - the make up, done by Shasha Fabri and her team, was a 'beautifully-understated-but-still-so-pretty' look that matched perfectly with the hair done by Mario Muscat and his team of Screen hair stylists. The hair styles were lovely, natural-looking curls but topped off with these awesome headdresses put together by Allistair and his team of florists. I loved the clothes (styled by Marisa Grima), lots of different trends on display, lots of bright colours, again lots of prettiness and what was major fun was that not only were there some looks with clashing patterns but there were also lots of matching suits, ironically these are two of the major trends this season.

The whole effect was basically fantastical fashion for adults.

EVENTS POST : SOME SPOTTED OUTFITS AND A GYPSY FAIR - TIMES OF MALTA PINK FASHION SHOW

In case you missed ALL of my related posts (shame on you if you did, what kind of follower are you?), yesterday, a fashion show happened - The Times of Malta Pink fashion show to be exact - and it was absolutely lovely, sweet (in more ways than one), cute & pretty and completely scrumptious. Guests were asked to turn up at 17:00 but the actual show started at 19:00, so what happened in between ? A little gypsy fair party of course!!!

I know I sound like an idiot gushing over cute things, but it really was too cute, with a car crammed full of sweets, adorable colourful furniture, cushions on the lawn, a band playing away, delicious nibbles and for the adults - cocktails.

During the fashion show, I worked backstage - assisting Marisa Grima (who styled the show) and of course blogging away - but during this pre-party fair I decided to employ a spot of style scouting and see who and what outfits caught my eye.

Bloggers Ellie Cutajar (those shades and the Marco Parascandolo top - awesome) and Stephanie Xerri Agius

Makeup Artist Natasha Polidano (love the necklace)

Designer Ron and Anna Galea (Wearing a FABULOUS C&R bag from the just-released collection)

Bloggers Tiziana (love love love the nike crop top) and Pavli

Giselle Camilleri wearing Max&Co of course (fabulous dress)

Roberta Caruana Stivala accessorized in Swarovski and Furla
