Family Corner : Maternity & Newborn

I'm starting off with an apology, my trip to Rome and planning away for approaching fashion weeks meant I lost a bit of control with trying to put up certain posts on certain days and my weekly Friday Family Corner post got a bit sidelined. This week at least it's just one day late at least, I think writing about this on Valentine's is fitting - I know there's going to be lots of chocolates and food and roses and hugs and kisses around and social media postings of said gifts. My post today is a shopping post dedicated to those celebrating the love of a newborn child (by buying them clothes :P) or the love of an approaching child (by buying yourself clothes).

As mentioned before KIABI are my sponsors for this family series and I think their maternity range is one of the cleverest (read comfortable and easy to wear) around ..their kiddie clothes are adorable.

I have a niece to buy for now - yipeeee - which might be a good time to point out that my choice of newborn clothes might be a bit gender biased - sorry !! .

So here goes some shopping options:

Jeans with a comfortable , soft waistband

Simple, pretty, bright, long tunic top

Greattt denim dress - lovee this one

And for the little ones - a scrumptious does of cuteness

 Tooooo cute

And some more Maternity Clothes Options in this slideshow below - ten points for that long black cardigan and the pretty monochrome dress

Family Corner : All About the KIDS

For this episode of the Family Corner I've styled and shot 3 very pretty girls in KIABI clothing. My three little models were great sports and did and and wore everything I told them to - hopefully enjoyed themselves - aren't they cute ?

Our first girl is only 7 years old - isn't she cute ? Since she's still young and has pretty, delicate features, I decided to go for something cute and pretty. I chose a very pretty, bright pink dress - I love bright clothes on kids in Winter, I added a white thick cardigan and lovely warm booties. A few pink accessories topped of the style.

Dress : 7.95 euros / Cardigan : 14.95 euros / Shoes : 22.95 euros / Accessories by Pretty Polly also sold at Kiabi

Next up is a 9 year old ballerina, fresh from her ballet exam - I decided that her lovely eyes and complexion would be perfectly set off by a white jacket with fur trimmings - I loved the jacket actually..so warm and cosy,  I added a black, patterned , 'fun' t-shirt, black jeans and black boots

Jacket : 19.99 euros / Top : 12:99 euros / Jeans (range between 7 - 14 euros)

Last but definitely not least - we're modelling winter, fuzzy sweaters, patterned jeans and cosy beanies with our 10 year old brunette. I chose this style to showcase a sporty, comfy look that kids can look good in whilst still being able to jump around in. The pink shoes add a pop of colour thats great on a gloomy day.

Shoes :  7.95 / Sweater : 17:95 euros / Beanie (Adults Section) / Jeans (range between 7 - 14 euros)

Family Corner : BABIES & TODDLERS @ Kiabi

Maybe it's the fact that I'm soon to become an aunt (hurrah!) that's increasing this factor, but I find that whenever I look at 'little' clothes I just want to buy everything - there's just something so cute about a little pair of shoes, a little frilly dress, a little shirt and tie and..well.. basically anything little, it's the little that does it.

I apologise for missing last week's edition of the Family corner, too many things happened last week and I simply lost track of time - but hey you get it bright and early on a Tuesday morning.

The miniature UGG-like shoes in the first cover pic are 6.99 euros.

I think it's a must that a little girl has a fur waist coat - because I love pink (comes as a shock right?) I'd choose the pink tie-dyed one below but the black one above is equally great. Both are only 9.99 euros.

cozy, cuddliness - 19.99 euros
Who wouldn't buy their child a panda zip-up ?  - 12 euros

Some people who knew me when I was about two years old say they always seem to remember me wearing pretty dresses and swishing them about- maybe that's why when it comes to girl's clothes I tend to gravitate towards the pretty dresses. Love this one in the pic above - 14 euros.

Family Corner : BUN in the oven ?

I always ask my friends / family / pets what they like and don't like in my blog, what they want less or more of and as much as possible I try to honour all requests. However, there is one request I've continually been promising to honour but yet never delivering on and that is tips regarding maternity fashion.

You see the problem is that I base most of what I write using myself as the proverbial guinea pig - my own experiences, my likes and dislikes bla bla bla..now whilst I'm all for putting myself in other people's shoes - I can't begin to imagine what it must be like to be pregnant. Every month when the female blues hit me, I become a wreck - fashion? clothes? what are they? I usually crawl out of bed, grab the comfiest thing I own and simply look like a white-faced wreck for the rest of the day.

9 months of feeling bloated and hormonal? I think I'd be the most unfashionable pregnant person ever.

But the requests continue to come and I've decided to possibly ease my way into this, I might write a whole load of rubbish or suggest the most uncomfortable of outfits but hey I'm trying so give the girl a break? And of course feedback and suggestions are always helpful :)

Sooo...no prizes for guessing that this week's edition of the family corner is about maternity wear - here comes the other reason for my collaboration on this section of the blog with KIABI malta. A LOT of people I know tell me that Kiabi has extremely comfortable maternity wear, somehow they seem to find it comfier than other brands, in my ignorance I've tried to understand why - don't all brands use the same patterns, is there like some new scientific breakthrough ?

The response mainly seem to be centered around the fact that all the seams of their trousers/tights/leggings fit properly right under the stomach and the part that sits on the stomach is really soft and stretchy, apparently they also tend to stay put not move around and fall etc.

Another very popular item which is really for after pregnancy is these breast feeding bras that are really easy to unclasp and reclasp.

And now for an outfit idea - this is my favourite item in the maternity section - I was thinking of buying it for me tbh but then I felt a bit *ahem* fraudulent and silly. I would wear this with leggings or black jeans and chunky black boots, on a cold day I might add a chunky black / white scarf. This is a sleeveless poncho so underneath you'd probably want to wear something like a long sleeved black top or a turtle neck - hows that for stylish comfiness ?

Soo how did I do ? Shall I continue with this ? More Family Corner posts right here

News Flash : Kiabi's Celebrating & Something New

kiabi malta
This post has a lot of news in it - first things first, I've finally given in to peer pressure - you know who you are, all you pregnant / mummy friends - there are going to be some family-oriented fashion posts. This means kiddies' fashion, maternity wear, newborn cute-as-hell clothes and all that jazz. I'm going to be collaborating with Kiabi Malta for some of these posts because they've got an unbelievable selection at some really great prices and as much as I love luxury fashion, kids grow out of them way too quickly, it just doesn't seem worth it somehow. Kiabi isn't just a kids shop - they've got everything including a brilliant workout section, I'll be talking about all of this but I'm targeting kiddies and their wallets mainly.

So for those who don't know where Kiabi in Malta is - it's right next to Lidi in Qormi and that has to be a landmark of sorts right ? There's a cake shop too and a bus terminus, I suggest shopping for clothes before shopping for food, I think it's a better order.

So now onto the news flash - well Kiabi is celebrating this Friday - and they've got super discounts on their already low-priced stock - so here's what's on offer

There will also be presentation of new collections*****Nibbles and drinks****  Free mini makeover (including hair & make-up). So Friday at 7:30 it's family shopping time and ****they're serving nibbles so no stopping at Lidl
