OUTFIT POST : AT ALTA ROMA DAY 2

Here's what I wore on Day 2 - it was still freezing and it was also raining - this was a really fun day - the morning wasn't busy with shows so I spent it walking around the shops, there was an afterparty and we ate at the Roscioli Salumeria - brilliant!

BTW check out my nails in the photo above - I think they're the star of the outfit (thanks Femme Beauty Attard for this combo) - I'm really enjoying having long pointed/ almond shaped  nails although they are so impractical - the amount of delicate scarves they keep inserting themselves into is getting out of hand, they seem to get caught in everything and if you accidentally scratch yourself - it hurts!

I'm really happy with this hat - I bought it from River Island on sale for like 4 euros and it's pure wool so kept me really warm.

Shopping : What I Bought

After weeks of passing on shopping tips and sale finds, I think it's only fair that you see some of what I bought for myself over the last month. 

So, above, first item in the picture shows my very first oversized jacket from Promod - an outfit post to follow very, very soon.

Right below, are a new pair of black, knee high boots - can you believe my previous, black knee high boots are about 7 years old ?! These are Nero Giardini from Stivaletti and as comfy as my bedroom slippers, ok, well, almost...

Then there's a Honey necklace that looks great with shirts / dresses etc that I've been reaching for a lot.

Below that, there's a skater skirt from Zara. I'm in love with the comfort and ease skater skirts bring to my life - I've only owned this skirt for one week and I've already worn it three times.

Then there's the PANAMA JACKS - yep I got a pair in burgundy - wohoooo

And the next two things are a cheat -- I don't own them but I'd like to very much and hey it's my birthday tomorrow. I've been passing hints at every turn for two weeks now, so hopefully some of them stuck in someone's brain !! :)

• The first is a suede patchwork dress from ASOS - I really love the colours, it's a perfect item for Spring and in Winter I'd wear it over a cream turtleneck and some thick cream tights.. perfection.
• It wouldn't be my list without at least something pink but even non-pink lovers, you have to admit there are few things more darling than this coat - and it's on sale.

Events Post : JIMMY CHOO in MALTA at SARTO

YES - it's TRUE, you've heard right - JIMMY CHOO is now available in Malta and yes of course you can just drop in and see..it's open to all ..just pop by SARTO (which is right next door to Hugo Boss opposite the infamous St Julians/Paceville 'park'). I've spent the last few days answering these questions, so I thought it's high time I wrote this post and gave you all the info. Of course it's not an official Jimmy Choo store but it's even better because whilst checking out the shoes you can also pop by the Dolce and Gabbana section and lust over those breathtakingly beautiful clothes.

I remember a time when there were practically no designer brands available to buy in Malta and most luxury online stores had never heard of Malta let alone delivered to us. This meant your only option was to buy whilst travelling which of course was easier for some people than others.  In the last few years the situation has changed - SARTO houses Dolce and Gabbana, Jimmy Choo , Giuseppe Zanotti, Burberry and others under its roof and for this we have Michelle and her hard working team to thank. Whatever you might think about designer prices, it is important for any industry to have available to its consumers both high end and low end products and these people have managed to be one of the key shops that are filling that upper bracket for our island. 

I also wish to pint out that NO the prices are not more expensive than abroad, which is something people seem to keep insisting on about all local shops and another very important thing is that SARTO also has two annual sales, In fact at the moment, you can find some Dolce and Gabbana items on sale, I've actually spent the last few days thinking about a pair of shoes they have at 50% off in my size, I've been trying really hard to convince myself I don't need them but I'm not sure it's working.

The launch party was lovely, lots of delicious sweets by Zest, flowing Martini to drink and lots of people to catch up with ..whilst of course lusting after the shoes. I also absolutely love the Marie Antoinette-inspired visual styling displays.

This event came one day after my trip back from London and 48 hours of no sleep so I was a little tired but I couldn't miss the CHOOs and of course I had to wear a pair of Jimmy's for the occasion right? My top is also a sequinned one which kind of gets a bit lost in the photos.

 BTW You might have kind of noticed that I'm kind of into this one earring trend, as I think I've had in about 2/3 of my most recent outfit posts- at least I get to wear all those pairs of which I've lost one.

Outfit Post : Diaries of the Last Day at LFW

The last day at London Fashion Week was a bitter sweet day. I was tired, very very tired so in a way I think a part of me was glad it was the last day. I also knew that after two days of being back in Malta I was going to miss all of this like crazy. It was also one of the best days of the whole five - it started out a bit crappy, I missed my first show - the only show at London Fashion Week that must have started on time..I arrived ten minutes late and found people already exiting..

All that followed was great though, I attended a LFW talk regarding creativity and commercialism, very distinguished panel of speakers and very interseting. I then attended the wonderful Isabel Garcia show which was amazing, the Tata Naka presentation at the Royal Academy, George Styler - so cool and the last show of all the week Hakaan Yildirim. (Individual posts on all these shows to follow sometime this week)

For the outfit story - the weather was odd the whole time I was in London, it kept switching from hot to cold and the last day started out seemingly cold but then got really really hot. I wore a jumper initially which infact got quickly removed and stored away for the evening.

This outfit had a few firsts - first of all, I got to wear this beautiful tie by a company called BIBSAB, they approached me recently and sent me three of these wonderful handmade exquisite creations. The word "BIBI" means "esteemed lady" in Arabic and "Sab" is Sabah's nickname. The ties looked beautiful online but when I opened the packaging and saw them with my own eyes, I was really impressed, the quality is top notch - Swarovski crystals, hand-embroidered sequins..I literally spent the whole day telling everyone where I got my tie from.

My skirt was also a first - a purchase from my recent trip to Riccione, it is by Fausto Puglisi who I absolutely adore for managing to combine eclectic style and fashion so wonderfully. My sweater I picked up in Florence from Dixie last March and it has since been too hot to wear in Malta. My earrings were an impulse buy the night before from H&M and soo many people complimented them that I feel they deserve a special mention..

After leaving Somerset and saying my final goodbye, I made my way to one of the highlights of the week - the FashionMonitor Beauty Lounge afterparty at the Mayfair Hotel in the Schiapparelli Suite. Now first of all this suite is all PINK and gorgeous with the largest pink bed on earth but there were also complimentary hair treatments by Nicky Clarke himself (check out his photo below), foot massages (sidenote: those are Compeed blister plasters on my foot which were a lifesaver, the masseur commented on how every girl whose feet she has massaged was wearing them lol), facials, makeup by Bare Minerals (my makeup look below), chocolate, fish and chips, frozen yoghurt, flowing prosecco and great DJs. 

It was a really great party but my night actually continued with a visit to a great bar called Sketch (which honestly has the coolest bathrooms I've ever seen - space pods) to finally catch up with friends who live in London...The interesting part about all of this is that I was being picked up by the taxi to get to the airport at 3 am and I hadn't yet packed and I was working the next day...it was a looong 48 hrs basically.

P.S. For those wondering who I survived the day in heels - I didn't ..it's common practice apparently in London for people to carry a flat pair of shoes and change into them when needing to walk some distance..I decided to comply with this behaviour.

Outfit Post : AltaRoma - Pink Shoes and Red Hair at Carlo Alberto Terranova

The first night of AltaRoma brought lots of excitement, hair frustration (it simply refused to look good whatever I did - where's Toni and Guy Malta when I need them) I attended Carlo Alberto Terranova's show at Palazzo Braschi, Piazza Navona, another stunning Palazzo. Speaking of Toni and Guy - what do you think of my new hair colour? It's a purplish red stain, I love the way the curls look multi-coloured when they catch the light.

I took this dress, by Custo Barcelona, up to Rome with me specifically for the occasion but I still needed the perfect shoes which I found in Zara, I had had my eye on these shoes ever since I saw them in Zara in Florence last March but I stopped myself buying them..they were marked down now ...and well ....I needed them for AltaRoma right ?..They're so pink and pretty.... and so HORRIBLE to walk with on Rome's cobbled streets..definitely lost some ankle lifetime that night.

Events Post : Selfies at Mvintage Bday Party

Yesterday Mvintage celebrated their birthday and invited some people over to their 'shop' for drinks. It was a lot of fun and we enjoyed chatting, trying on jewellery and buying some too over a glass of wine.

I decided to wear an in-theme outfit with vintage chic being the logo on my crop top. I also wore these beautiful shoes fr the first time...hos like these should be worn with some form of sock the first time.. I know this but yet I was stupid enough not to...I left The Point barefoot, 'nough said.

OUTFIT POST : THE CURLS ARE BACK AND WHAT I WORE TO PINK

I'm not sure if you all know my hair is curly, I had the Brazilian Keratin treatment applied last December so there was 6 months straight of straight hair (pun intended). It's now summer and I love curly hair in summer plus the Keratin has somewhat worn off soooo it's back to my organic & original curls. They made their first comeback public appearance at the PINK fashion show last week and it's quite funny - when I first went from curly to straight lots of people didn't recognise me, now it's straight back to curly and the same thing happened..funny how familiar with something we can get.

For the pink event I decided it was the perfect occasion to wear my new Marc Jacobs pyjama shirt that I bought a while ago but never got round to wearing and a brand new pair of shorts by Marc Cain. My earrings are actually thrifted from an outdoor market in Gozo and of course I just had to add a Coccinelle bag.

Outfit Post : Malta Fashion Week Launch Party - It's a World Full of Eyes - and a NEW blog

And so this is fashion week.......Malta fashion week 2014 begins. As has been customary for the last couple of years, the kick off was a launch party at Medasia, at which guests were plied with cocktails, yummy sushi & falafel bites and great music and conversation. There were also a couple of super cool outfits running around, both boys and girls...wohooooo...perfect start to my favourite week of the year.

You may also have noticed that I'm launching a brand new blog design..LOVE the design by the amazing The 9nth Wish, I also have a brand new logo that I think really epitomizes what me and my work is all about.

And now for the launch party outfit - it's all about Kenzo - my current favourite designer brand that has me regularly adding things to my shopping basket and then removing them and then of course re-adding later. I bought this iconic eye sweater in Paris last January, I had decided I was buying it before I got there but  the sales person informed me that it was sold out and I was sooo annoyed.....but I hung around the shop looking at other things and a few minutes later mysteriously saw him walking around with one that I grabbed and made mine. 

The trousers, I bought later..I had always wanted to complete the set but kept trying to stop myself shopping - I failed and decided they'd make the perfect fashion week ensemble and therefore were necessary.

There were of course additions to the sweater and trousers combo and this came in the form of blue eye shadow, purple eye liner and blue mascara, chandelier earrings also from Paris (see I planned ahead) an exquisite, patterned new bucket patterned leather bag  and a very cool new pair of shoes that are actually really comfortable. Last but not least - check out this hairstyle by the ever-amazing Svetlana at Toni and Guy Hilton.

Outfit Post : Working backstage at a Fashion Show & Patchwork Denim

I've been focusing on what guests attending fashion shows in May should wear, but apart from touching on photographers and journalists who are actually part of the audience, I haven't really touched on what to wear when backstage, before the event kicks in. There really aren't any rules or dos and don'ts here, there's still a bunch of fashion conscious ppl around so you can still expect to see the latest denim trends, sneakers etc..however, it is of course a more relaxed casual style of dressing.

Some weeks ago, I worked backstage at the Fashion For a Cause fashion show and since we were in the stunning Villa Francia and the hubby and his camera were around, I decided to get some outfit pics snapped. This is what I wore to work backstage at a fashion show :) 

That day I decided to work the short culottes trend and patchwork denim trend that are both really popular this season. I added a pinstripe blazer since it was a rather smart affair and figured some of the guests might come backstage at one point or other and I might also want to join the reception after the show (didn't feel like taking another outfit with me to change into).

I'm very, very into this whole patchwork denim, I've always loved patterned/embellished denim..I mean I love denim in general but some form of pattern/embellishment really excites me. I actually bought this top last September on sale, really glad I picked it out.

SPOTTED : Spring Beauties with a Denim Jacket

A Denim Jacket is probably one of the most important and versatile pieces of clothing found in a wardrobe. There are literally hundreds of different outfits that can be tailored around a denim jacket and lets not forget that denim in general remains one of the hottest trends around this season. For this SPOTTED post I've toured some of my favourite shops and picked out a capsule wardrobe made up of some of my favourite items that work well with a denim jacket. 

And the denim jacket chosen - this particular one is from Armani Jeans - it broke my heart when I saw it in the store because it has this darling, cute-as-pie black lace trim and It's just too sweet. 

Soooo the capsule story is that we've got 3 different outfits: a super cool, fitted striped dress, ripped jeans and a crop top, loose fitting printed pants paired with a sweater. Each of these outfits will look great with the denim jacket.

Then.... as accessories we've again gone capsule-style and we've got a one-4-all fit..we've got a very funky saddle bag with gold hardware, yellow stiletto pumps, a gold boyfriend-style watch, a petrol-blue fedora hat, bright red lipstick, some bracelets, and a nautical-themed wallet. And all these accessories will look great with any of the 3 different outfits.
