Last Sunday at Palazzo Besso home of the fifteenth century Roman Largo di Torre Argentina in Rome, a crowd of fashionistas gathered. Palazzo Besso, besides being a fabulous palazzo with a beautiful grand staircase, it actually houses the designer Antonio Grimaldi's studio workshop, so in a sense, Grimaldi opened his own doors and invited us in to view his latest Alta Moda/ haute couture capsule creations.
As Ferramoda Malta's stylist and representative, I was really looking forward to this show so last Sunday afternoon I made my there, braving the Roman cobbled streets with high heels and eagerly awaiting this collection.
Eight pieces were presented, each piece displays excellent craftsmanship and superb tailoring, all are simply exquisite and made of high quality materials with intricate design details. I loved the clothes, there as a mixture of highly wearable items such as sequinned silk jackets and floor length gowns adorned with Swarovski crystals. The presentation was conducted in quite an original manner, models sauntered one by one, down the staircase and guests and photographers were free to roam around up and down the stairs or wait for the models at the starting point - the atelier's studio in which the clothes themselves were hanging and could therefore be inspected up close. A mention should also be made of the amazing makeup, lace-covered eyes and the lovely hairstyles by Sergio Valente. Photos by Kurt Paris
