Outfit : FitFlopping Away

The first day of Malta Fashion Week was a loooong one. I was working from early morning, helping to plan and sort out all the clothes, with Marisa Grima for the Point Fashion Show. The smart person that I am decided that that day would be a perfect day to try out a new pair of FitFlops I had just got.

Fit flops are marketed as caffeine for your feet - they are extremely comfortable once broken in, but they come with a warning to wear progressively to avoid muscle soreness. Their micro wobble technology basically promotes the right leg and bum muscles into working more which in turn leads to better posture and toned muscles. I don't really know if they're actually toning my bum or not, a bit hard to tell since I also work out - who knows which is doing what. On that day though, what with all the walking up and down stairs and endless walking around whilst wearing these fit flops - my quads and calves were on fire. By the evening, it felt like I had just done two gym workouts back-to-back.

Onto the rest of the outfit and my dress is from that shop I told you about some time ago Lulu Boutique, a few people have come to tell me that they visited the store after reading my post and loved it so if you missed that one - read about LULU here.

And now for the hair - I had those braids done the previous day for the fashion week launch party. I love braids, they're so much fun and they were absolutely perfect for ensuring my hair stayed in place for the entire day throughout all the hectic activity. If you're curious as to what I wore that evening - you can check it out right here.

Events Post : LIST ROMA & Luisa Spagnoli

Last Wednesday in Pjazza Tigne, amidst the unfortunate cold weather, good food and flowing wine, two lovely shops - LIST ROMA and Luisa Spagnoli, showcased their new collections - modeled by Supernova models.

LIST ROMA's collection this season is IMO one of their best ever, it's really versatile, there are a lot of bright colours and as much as I hate to use the word, some pieces are super trendy. I wore a lovely dress from the collection that night - ootd to follow.

The outfit below is one of my absolute faves.

The collection is geared towards multiple age groups, not teenagers, but I can see both 21-year-olds as well as 50/ 60-year-olds finding something they love in the store. Check out the slideshow below - as you can see there's quite a variety of styles.

Luisa Spagnoli also had some very interesting pieces, with a mix of both casual and more formal, elegant looks. As a target audience, the collection is geared towards a slightly older age in my opinion, perhaps over 35/40-year-olds, although then again it depends on the figure and personal taste.

Check out the slideshow below - loving the pink

Outfit Post : A Night Out at GAGLIARDI

Last Friday night GAGLIARDI celebrated the opening of their first uni brand store. The store is at Pjazza Tigne in Sliema and it's really quite a beautiful store. The tailoring and clothes design has always been beautiful but now they're also housed in a beautiful shop which makes you want to spend money.

For the occasion I decided to go for monochrome and red. I also gave these little babies a little outing and they behaved quite well, only hurting a little bit after quite a few hours of standing.

Outfit : At Ferramoda - Before & During

Sometimes life gets so busy that what happened just two weeks ago can feel like light years away - so two weeks ago I worked backstage at an event FERRAMODA which you can read all about here.

Here's what I wore, before the actual event started (choosing the girls outfits, handling preps & makeup) and whilst the event was ongoing (I was working backstage anyway but I did pop out a bit before so decided to get somewhat dolled up).
The hardest thing to get right is the shoes - working as a stylist backstage at a fashion show means running up and down a million and one times, it means bending down to take shoes off the models, tearing clothes off them and putting others back on and answering twenty questions at once. The worst thing you could do is wear uncomfortable shoes, on the other hand you do want to look good so along came these fantastic ankle boots by TOSCA BLU (Stivaletti) that are really comfortable and imo really beautiful - I love the quilted detailing.

My hair was originally blowdried straight and then curled with ghd hair straighteners by the Toni&Guy Team who also styled all the models for the event.

My dress is from a shop that's only been open a year or so MIMI Boutique in San Gwann - the brand is Apanage but they house others - I'll be writing a Shopping Post with more details very soon.

What to Wear : Winter = Red&Black + FEDORA

Red & Black is THE ultimate fiery colour combo yet it only gets one season. What with Red being the colour of Christmas and black being the dark non-colour that it is...I simply don't see that many opportunities for red & black in the summer months.

Which brings me to this ribbed, knit, asymmetrical red&black dress.... - okkkk maybe the black is slightly grey ..but who's fishing?- from Max&Co., I'm pretty certain the red&black brings out my eyes or at the very least my FEDORA but leaving that aside I've created two outfits around this dress. Yes magical number 2.

The one I'm wearing is number 1 ofc but there's another collaged outfit idea further down the road, I think the dress should be paired with a fedora but if it's not your cup of tea  you will be absolved.

I wore the dress with a pair of 'ooh la la sexy booties' that are actually one of my ALDO #perfectpair picks that you can buy at 30% off. In the collage, I've switched to a pair of taupe booties also from MAX&Co. - I liked the idea of a third colour and the booties as a style work equally well if not better.

I didn't use a bag myself - why do you need a bag in a studio? But in the collage I've put a black bag although I also loveee satchel-style bags this season,  I'm loving this one in particular . I've also added a jacket that's also from MAX&Co in the collaged outfit since I guess summer has kinda gone away now...

And for the collage...

Your turn - What do you pair RED with ?

Outfit Post : It's a PURPLE Hole in the WALL or BAG

Last weekend was an out-of-ordinary experience for me, the hubby and I actually managed to not work for an entire weekend and we spent it at the Palace Hotel. We played board games, ate way too much junk food and just chilled.

Sat morning we stepped out for a short walk and he had his camera..ok so I made him work a little bit, this is an honest-to-god, not-in-any-way-planned general outfit.

I'm wearing a new Coccinelle bag that I love and I think is perfectly positioned next to the Hole in the Wall bar name because it doesn't have an actual closing mechanism of any sort so it's a hole in the bag :D plus it looks like a bucket

I'm also wearing a super comfy dress that you've seen before here and my ALDO wedge sneakers that you can presently buy at 30% off, I already mentioned that these are my #perfectpair for everyday. My hair is actually still wet from my trip to the spa.

Outfit Details : Dress : Dahlia / Shoes : ALDO / Bracelet (Black) : Karen Millen / Bracelet (Red), Bag : Coccinelle / Sunglasses : Dior (Solaris Malta) / Watch : Toy Watch

Did you spot my 'CP' initials necklace - I blogged about it here. It's from Mvintage and I still wear it everyday - what do you think of it ?.

Trends Post : A Cardigan & a Dress at MAX&Co

Whilst many are embracing the fact that the weather's changed and the hot summer days seem to be behind us ..I'm lamenting the fact that I've started to feel rather chilly. This means light jackets, shawls and of course little cardis and sweaters.
One of the looks I like most is the idea of wearing a dress and a cardigan like in this picture below.

I've said this before - whilst I appreciate androgynous fashion & I love edgy styling...sometimes, I wonder what happened to the princesses we dreamed about as little girls, where have they disappeared to in all that is fashion? One of the things I like about MAX&Co. as a brand, is that they have different trends and these trends tend to cater for a variety of styles - guess what one of them is called - Girl's Dream and yep it's filled with dresses, sparkly belts and sparkly shoes and lots of pretty, pretty items. There's a protagonist in the dream ofc and it's called Corolla (the dress in the pic below)

On a side note, one of the focuses of this theme is to be able to transition easily from day to night and a cardi or little jacket worn over a dress is a great way to do that. I also like to change handbag - sometimes what I do is carry around a large handbag during the day with a little mini one inside the large one, after my work-day is over - I simply switch. I also like to update  my lipstick, maybe go for a bolder colour at night.

What do you think, do you like the idea of cardigans and dresses ?

Outfit Post : Gold and Colour Blocks at a Wedding

A few weeks ago two good friends of mine tied the knot and celebrated with a lovely and original reception at Popeye's Village. I decided to wear a new dress by JOVONNA that I find very original, it's a mixture of pattern overlay and pleats with leather side buckles. Photos by Kurt Paris

Do you recall the ALDO X OSTWALD HELGASON shoes I told you I bought in this post - here they are :D

It was a hot day so I decided my hair should go up - as usual no one beats Svetlana at Toni and Guy Hilton Malta. And a big thanks to my mummy for his beautiful necklace she just gifted me.

Shopping Post : A Perfect Dress on Sale!

This season, I've had the opportunity to work with the Oasis Store in Malta on multiple occasions, giving me ample time to pick my favourite items from their stock. One of my still favourite dresses is this teal lantern dress below.

I love the fitted waist, the beautiful, rich teal colour and above all the intricate detail at the collar, I used a similar teal dress, also from OASIS but less special somehow, in a scene in the television series il-Klikka; Julia played by Tezaa Camilleri wore it

Now here comes the interesting part - both dresses are on sale!!! Tezara's is discounted to 47 Euros from 94 , and this beautiful embellished one was € 101 and is now  now € 70.70.

This dress can easily be dressed down for a more casual night or dressed up for a special occasion, simply by switching around different jewellery and shoes.

In the first outfit below I've paired it with a brown leather jacket ..a pretty clutch bag and a pair of high heeled ankle boots - this is the outfit I see fit for a nice dinner date, a night out at a bar, a Christmas Party....

oasis on sale

In the second outfit below, the look is much swankier, something more akin to what you would wear for a wedding/new year's eve party/posh party. The glitzy gold jewellery and delicate sandals make the dress seem much more feminine and much prettier and slinkier..

If you're still looking for a dress for new year's eve and don't want to break the bank I suggest you visit Oasis and seek out this teal number!
