Family Corner : Maternity Wear at KIABI

From what I've heard, being heavily pregnant in summer isn't all that great what with the summer heat, summer weddings, parties, BBQs and events - apparently, generally, many pregnant women end up hot and bothered. Whilst clothes can't solve the heat problem, new clothes can hopefully generate a few smiles at the very least especially easy-to-wear summer dresses.

Here are some of the new stock options from KIABI that caught my eye - there are some bright colours, a bit of white and a few greys. My take is to wear bright clothes to uplift a bad mood, grey when you're feeling passive and white when you're happy.

News Flash : A Burger and a T-Shirt

Over the past few years, fast food and fashion have been making an unlikely pairing. It all started when Moschino launched their McDonalds-inspired collection, the trend caught on in high street stores in a big way - with clothing items covered in pizzas, chips and burgers appearing everywhere and becoming sell out items. House of Holland even had nails created  and ASOS designed burger and fries plimsolls.

McDonald's, after all, is the actual original Moschino inspiration. They have decided to play their own fashion game and they started out in Paris at the iconic Colette store - they launched the specifically designed merchandise with pictorials resembling icons, like the ones used on tablets and apps (pic below). In Italy, they did something similar, they partnered up with the mega store Coin and even had skateboards designed.

Since you're on my blog and we're in Malta - yep you guessed it - they're launching the line for Malta, the style is similar, using the same images. There are a number of summer-related items - tote bags, towels, ball and racquets and my fave of the lot - t-shirts.

When this trend first made an appearance, I wasn't too sure I liked the idea of wearing fast-food but it did grow on me and there's an obvious humorous element to wearing a t-shirt with a bag of fries on it. I especially liek the idea of sunbathing on a burger towel on a sandy beach - that would be one interesting selfie opportunity.

So how do you get your hands on this stuff? Well their slogan is ‘Everybody is a Winner with McDonald’s’ from 19th June onwards and will involve a scratch card competition - so stay tuned.

Which T-Shirt would you want  ?- the ice cream / the burger or the fries? I think I want a burger.

Shopping : Summer at F&F

Today's shopping post revisits F&F at Daniel's - if you're still unsure what shop this is - it's the line from Tesco that opened late 2014. Summer stock is now fully stocked at F&F and there's quite a selection of bright, colourful clothing and interesting swimwear styles.

Since it's impossible for me to update you on what's in stock in each and every shop in Malta, what I'm attempting, is a mix of budget and high-end shops, as well as those that are a bit 'newsworthy' ie. either not really well known or recently opened. F&F falls into both the budget and recently opened categories, so I decided it should make my list again this season.

AWithin minutes of walking into the store, a couple of things had already caught my eyes. First of all, there's a whole lot of yellow and by now you should all know how I feel about yellow - basically, it's not just for Tweety. There's also quite a large selection of swimwear and a couple of interesting accessories including bags and hats.

Let's go back to the 'yellow' - they've inserted the colour into the collection paired up with blue and the combo works quite nicely. Yellow is a major trend this summer and at F&F they've got blazers, a-line skirts, trousers, tops - basically, any clothing-item-type you might want to wear. Honestly, they're really leaving no excuse to not buy into the whole 'I will be wearing yellow this summer'.

If you still think yellow is not for humans, we should sit down and have a chat together, at which I will, of course, wear the brightest shade of yellow known to fabric and attempt to dazzle you into agreeing with me.

Of course there's also denim in the store - we haven't left this denim-obsessed century

Now for the swimwear - the selection really is very large, there are cleavage-enhancing bikinis, one-piece suits with magic support, tankinis and lots more. Flick through the slideshow below to get an idea

Menswear is quite well stocked too at F&F, so I thought I'd snap some pics this time round as I'm generally accused by the hubby of neglecting 'his kind' completely.

Last but not least, there are also some really great female accessories.

Happy Shopping !!!

Events Post : LFW : Hakaan Yildirim SS15

The last on schedule show at London Fashion Week and the last show I watched before catching a plane back home was H by Hakaan Yildirim. It was a great way to end the week for a number of reasons, first off I love the Somerset catwalk, big, white, the attention is completely on the models and their outfits at all times and I got to sit on the front row again which meant I had a perfect view of everything. The first pic and the next set are mine..the subsequent better ones are the official press ones by getty images.

Hakaan's inspiration for his SS15 collection was -
"the releationship between human beings. The relation between humans and nature in general"

His collection featured an explosion of colour  - yellow, green, red orange, black and white. If looking at these pictures, reminds you of bees, don't be alarmed, bees were actually one of Hakaan's main inspiration for this collection and in particular the structured shapes of some of the pieces. The pieces also featured details such as embroidery, beading, handmade lace. I loved the collection, it was interesting and original, and the unique accessories really enhanced the look - LOVEE the sunvisor.

Events Post : Charles & Ron at Corinthia Palace Hotel & Spa

Last week, Charles and Ron, Malta's most established designers, unveiled a micro summer collection at the fabulous Corinthia Palace Hotel & Spa. It was a beautiful, well-organised event that I thoroughly enjoyed, it was attended by their esteemed clientele as well as people who work within the industry and have supported them throughout the years. What I loved most about the event was the all-round jubilant mood, putting aside the fact that people tend to be in a good mood in Summer, everyone who was there seemed genuinely happy to be there, happy to be showing support to the designers and has a great admiration for their work. This last part was also evident in the way many guests raided the store (also in Corinthia) the minute they realised that there's a 30% off promotion throughout August (you might want to run to the store infact).

The pic above was the grand finale piece, a standout fifties-inspired dress that the gorgeous Daniela pulled off with a lot of oomph. The rest of the collection had a very summery, colourful vibe with lovely tailoring and beautiful prints and fabrics. The picture below shows what appeared to be the main print of this micro collection. A very striking print, I love the way the different colours blend into each other without any harsh separations. My favourite piece is the first one, modelled by Amy, such a pretty, flattering cut.

Below, pastel mint colour also made an appearance on mid-length and floor length gowns that are the perfect outfits for a summer wedding or formal party.

Cobalt blue is such a striking colour and flattering on so many different skin tones. I found both these dresses very interesting with the second one giving off a slightly more casual appearance due to its somewhat sporty suggestion in the neckline.

These three dresses below all stole my heart for different reasons, the first lilac one has that touch of lace that is just sweet perfection, the middle dress is very chic but at the same time gives off an effortless vibe and the last one screams stunning goddess.

Beautiful pink fabric combined with lace is always magical. I think I prefer the longer version of this dress though as I feel the proportions seem to work better or maybe it's because there's more pink.

Purple, or Radiant Orchid as Pantone have named it, is one of the main colours for the approaching fall season, so these dresses below could be ones to buy now and wear in a few months time to any of the umpteenth events that seem to exist in Autumn and the first part of Winter. My favourite is the first one worn by model Jacqui - so chic!

A lovely evening in great company looking at beautiful clothes designed by extremely talented local designers - what more could a girl ask for ?

Shopping Post : Pretty Dresses for Summer

For this week's edition of Caroline hits a shop and shows you what's in stock we've got Jennyfer and their brand spanking new pretty summer dresses. Not sure about but when the intense summer heat hits, all I want to wear is a dress ..a lightweight summer dress..forget about jeans..forget about trousers and cool fashion..at some point it's just too hot. The problem is the best dresses are usually sold out by June...before the heat hits and I never find any to buy when I desperately need them..so maybe this year, I need to plan ahead....

Shopping Post : The Most Beautiful Shop in Malta (IMO)

Regular readers must assume by now that I love shopping and tend to spend a good portion of my time in shops. There are many shops in Malta I enjoy visiting, for different reasons, some have amazing products, some have a great vibe and some have brilliant sales.

However, I know of only one shop that resembles something akin to a museum, that is so beautiful and historic, I spend as much time looking at the actual building and stonework features as I do the clothes and that is Tommy Hilfiger in Valletta. If you've never been inside this store then make it a point to step inside when you're next in Valletta - this is one place seriously worth visiting, irrespective of whether or not you like the clothes.

However, since after all this is a fashion blog and this is a shopping post you may have realised that this week's instalment of Caroline visits a shop and tells you what's in stock is Tommy Hilfiger in Valletta.

Although on my last visit to the store there were some bright colours in the women's section, I was not expecting what I saw yesterday. The Palm Springs Collection is seriously stylish, bright and cheerful and with all the Tommy trademarks - high quality, superb tailoring, and lovely fabric. I fell in love with a really lot of pieces - there are beautiful dresses that one can easily wear to a wedding, really stylish accessories, lovely shirts and lots more.

Here are some photos to give you an idea but take my advice and visit for yourself ...trust me
