Urban Travel : In the Fitting Room Vol 2

As I mentioned last week, as the Urban Travel collaboration with #MEXX now comes to an end, I decided to end with something a bit different for 2015 - I'm taking you with me into the changing / fitting / dressing room !!

Whenever I'm shopping, the thing I hate most is 'trying on' and there are times when I break one of my own rules and simply skip that part. However, when I do enter, sometimes I'll decide instantly, other times I'll spend about 10 minutes craning my neck trying to see whether or not my bum looks big.

Last week I chose a long, casual, sweater dress that's a bit fitted. This week I've changed tune completely and I've migrated into a woolly, casual, chunky cardigan that hides all your sins. The great thing about this cardigan sweater is that you can wear it EVERYWHERE - to work, out shopping, to the cinema, to a friend's house...& you can wear it with many different colours -  black, denim, white, purple, navy. I also chose a black leather clutch bag that's really stylish.

The best part - MEXX is on sale now !!

Urban Travel : In the Fitting Room

As the Urban Travel collaboration with #MEXX draws to a close I've decided to end with something a bit different. For these last two installments, I'm taking you with me into the changing / fitting / dressing room.

I know I'm not alone, it's not the first time I've seen people snap pictures in changing rooms, trying to see angles their bodies don't allow them to see or even sending pics to other people to get second opinions.

For this post, I chose a long casual sweater dress that's a bit fitted, this is something I would want to try on and also something I would obsess over, as to whether or not I look bigger in it. I shot a series of selfies that I would take, had I needed that second opinion.

I also chose a bag and amazing pair of gloves that I would wear it with.

Shopping Post : A Look at Debenhams

I spent last Saturday visiting shops, making it a point to visit shops I haven't visited in a while - in some of them I decided to snap some pics of whatever took my fancy and one of these is Debenhams. I like the collection this Winter and the great thing is the prices are reasonable and it caters for all ages and occasions.
A side note is that I wasn't previously aware of their brand Mantaray which has some really nice things - it's very much the casual chic, country comfort look, the quality is nice and the colours vibrant, these mittens in the pic above are all from that brand.

Here's what caught my eye around the shop

Trench coats are one of those Winter essentials especially for those women who don't feel that hot

LOVE the colour of this jacket, perfect for when it's grey outside

More Mantaray...

And a pair of ankle boots that simply go with everything

And here's a slideshow with these and more pics :)

Trends Post : Autumn Layers

autumn layering

Someone recently pointed out that it's been a while since I've collaged a few outfits together and they're right - no specific reason - just something I stopped doing.  I've been feeling more inclined lately and when ModCloth approached me and asked me to showcase their autumn layers I decided to hop back on the bandwagon.

The outfit in hand uses a blanket-style cardigan as its centerpiece. You can't have missed seeing a photo or 600 of Olivia Palermo / Cara Delevigne / Famous Woman X wearing the Burberry blanket with their initials monogrammed. If you're rich and famous you can get one of those for $1,395 - if you're a humble being you might have to look elsewhere.

This particular folk-inspired blanket-style cardigan has a brilliant pattern and colour combo. I've decided to team it with with a mustard cowl neck top and a denim shirt that I plan on wearing unbuttoned, the cowl neck top is actually a thin cardigan but I like it worn as a base layer. Since in my fuddled thoughts Autumn needs a hat and gloves, I couldn't resist adding a touch of vintage to clash with my folk.

Wear this outfit  with jeans and booties for a day out in a park / garden / walk around / a day out shopping or even to work if the dress code is casual.

If you're not familiar with ModCloth you might be worth checking them out,  they have an amazing selection of cardigans at the moment. it caters for all sizes and has lots of vintage inspired & quirky pieces - plus you can even shop by decade. They curate their clothes from different retailers as well as having their own private label. I actually found out about this site last year through Pretty Little Liars, since I obsessively hunt through blogs to see where their clothes are from - quite a few pieces were from ModCloth.

Any other layering ideas for Autumn ?
