Shopping : Party-tastic at LULU

Some time ago I wrote a post about a shop I'd visited that's a little bit out of the normal shopping route - Lulu Boutique. I know that quite a few of you popped by and visited the shop and loved how quaint it is. A lot of you also sent me messages inquiring about 'formal or special' dresses for weddings and parties.

It's not really a shop I'd send people to that are looking for a special dress to wear to a wedding but there are some lovely dresses that are great for parties and can easily be dressed up with some accessories and made to look a bit more fabulous. I know a lot of you would prefer seeing some more photos before making the trip so I stopped by the store again and took a few more stock photos, focusing mainly on those dresses that are a bit more 'party-tastic'.
P.S - the all-cream/ white ones are NOT good for weddings :)

And here's a slideshow with many more party dress options

A couple of photos of the lovely place - because it needs to be snapped on each visit

And for those not interested in party dresses - I spotted some other items around the shop that are very interesting

NYE Glitzy Outfit Inspiration

I get dressed up on so many random nights throughout the year that it's kind of ironic that on the one day, EVERYONE dresses up I'll be having a chilled night in with friends, drinking and eating ..most probably wearing something along the lines of comfy jeans and a sweater. However, for those going a more traditional route and enjoying a glitzy party, here's some sparkly accessories inspiration, maybe you have something similar lurking somewhere within your closet...remember accessories can take that outfit from normal to special ..but don't overload..too much of anything is always a bad thing...

Outfit Post : Xmas in Paris

A couple of weeks ago  the hubby and I went to Paris for a few days of walking, fun, Christmas markets and beautiful food. A couple of snapshots and what I wore - starting off with this black combo - that day was absolutely freezing and the hubby bought me this beautiful cape to wear over the jacket I was already wearing.

Sneakers, sneakers, sneakers - the sneakers craze isn't as rampant in Paris as London but I still spotted quite a few Parisians and tourists wearing sneakers under 'everything' - from suits (men) to dresses to jeans. Always happy to participate in this sneaker craze, I spent literally a whole day walking in these babies below (Laura Biagiotti from Stivaletti) and my feet were actually still happy when I went to bed.

Outfit 2 ..........Furry hats, scarf, coat .. according to the hubby I looked like a coloured snowman.. This hat is way too big for my face ...it kept falling down and covering my eyes which apparently is very amusing.............

The pink monster behind me is Laffayette's window display, their whole Christmas campaign is based around Noel the pink Xmas Monster ..and their window displays include puppet shows, moving monsters - simply awesome.

I simply love Paris..there's something about that city that's at once magical, inspiring and energetic...it's also simply put - beautiful...

Outfit Post : It's all about FUR

Day 4 at London Fashion Week SS15 - You night recall my mega exciting news that come September I was to be brand ambassador for Max&Co Malta, well, we decided to kick it off at London Fashion Week with this AMAZING faux fur coat - it's a beautiful mix of blue and black colours and the texture is absolutely brilliant, soft and smooth..a part of me was worried someone might think it's real and throw a bucket of red paint at me....

My outfit post shooting got a lucky break here, I had Kris Micallef to shoot my photos *yipeee*..coincidentally we were both working for the same magazine Noctis Magazine so  we spent soeme time together covering the shows and snapping some street style. We also visited the ME Hotel right outside Somerset House which has THE most amazing press room ever - check out the view.

We both loved this designer's outfit!

And for some much more mediocre detail shots (shot by me)

OUTFIT POST : SHOES & CAVES WITH ALDO

This post serves multiple purposes - besides showcasing my outfit and the beautiful Ghar Lapsi in Malta, there's a focus on ALDO. I've hinted in a few earlier posts that there's a collaboration going on between me, myself & ALDO and this is D-DAY - announcement day.

Here's the story - I've been asked to pick my favourite 5 shoes in the shop (and these are clearly labelled in the Sliema store) and I've also put an outfit and taken photos with my ultimate favourite pair...andddd there's more - for a few days only these 5 styles will be on special discount  ...so keep listening out for this.

Whenever I set foot inside ALDO, much to my husband's chagrin, I rarely leave empty handed and the truth is he rarely does either. I love their shoes and it therefore wasn't easy to pick just 5 styles, it actually took me about thirty minutes of deliberation

Here's the lowdown on my choices - FEMALE first - I've chosen a variety - the two high heeled sandals will look great with skinny jeans, skirts, dresses - anytime you feel like getting all dressed up (the black pair match with most colours and are one of those investment pieces that you can wear for years to come, the coloured pair are a lot more fun and perfect for summer). Then there's the ultra-cool flat, shocking-lime green sandals with a cork footbed that are absolutely fantastically cooler than cool (there are other colours too).

The pair I've selected as my ultimate favourite and that I actually bought for my and myself are the white and sand wedges with a stacked heel and gold hardware. These shoes manage to accomplish what only super shoes can do, they're super (yes I've used super twice in one sentence) comfy and they're actually smart and look super (and here's the third) stylish on your feet.

But the shoe that gets the most attention is my one male style - with the ultimate awesome feature - an orange & blue heel - I forced my hubby to buy these, he tried to resist at first but ultimately had to acknowledge the awesomeness that is these shoes.

So for this outfit post I decided to go for a laid-back look and pair these shoes with a versatile denim dress and a huge floppy hat, also from ALDO. I'm also showcasing a major trend this summer, that of wearing just one statement earring.

Shopping Post : Men and Blazers

I love a man in a nice suit, after all, give me a perfectly tailored blue suit and a crisp white shirt ad it onto a dashing man aka James Bond (Sean Connery) and I'm good to go. A lot of men however, don't feel quite the same way about suits...a few too many of them detest wearing suits..With more and more companies abandoning the idea of formal dress codes for work and accepting casual wear, men have now grown accustomed to being comfortable and now view suits as though they are little, evil, green-headed monsters...created with the sole purpose of making men suffer.

Enter the BLAZER, the humble blazer owes its origins to the pedigree of the United Kingdom. To be precise to the Lady Margaret Boat Club (the rowing club of St. John's College, Cambridge), the men wore red blazers in the 1800s. The great thing about a blazer, whilst still ultimately being a fitted jacket is that it can be worn over a t-shirt, over jeans, over a crisp white shirt...basically does not call for the whole formal ensemble but it still can be worn that way if wanted.

One of the best places to buy a nice male blazer from is Tommy Hilfiger, they have lovely tweed and velvet options which along with plaid, are my current fave blazer types.

Some picks rom Tommy Hilfiger Malta below : Although these pics show them styled with ties and shirts, this is not the only way to wear them, they'd look really great over a sweater/v-neck/t-shirt/open shirt!

And because little boys should look as good as their dads....

In Malta, Tommy Hilfiger Stores can be found in Baystreet Shopping Complex Paceville and in Valletta.Hilfiger Denim Stores can be found at The Point and in also Valletta (in Valletta same store as Tommy Hilfiger - basement level).
