Shopping : Time for GLASS at MVINTAGE

The lovely people over at MVINTAGE recently contacted me and told me they had chosen my blog to be part of the Mvintage Christmas Campaign, what intrigued me most is that they explained how the campaign this year revolves around the Glass Collection and they had chosen a specific colour for a few different bloggers - the colour that they thought best represents them. The second best part is that you guys get 10% off the entire shop when you enter CAROLINE10%OFF at checkout.

Curiosity is something which always inspires me onto great knowledge so of course I was very eager to know my colour and be part of this campaign - PURPLE. It's a very accurate guess - I love purple as I've said many times - my first colour love will always be pink but I see purple as its more mature sister :P Here's my necklace below and it can be purchased right here .

I do really like their new GLASS range especially these larger glass necklaces in the picture below - although glass jewellery is not an entirely new concept, it's not something that's been commercialised as much as other styles. I perceive the style as something a bit fresh and interesting and another point in its favour is that besides the style being somewhat delicate and delicate jewellery having really made a comeback this year, at the same time, it's still statement-making of sorts.

Shopping : Let's stroke some leather at Coccinelle

I've decided to post not one but two shopping posts this week and the second one is at Coccinelle who just last week hosted a super event whereby shoppers were sent a piece of material which they then had to pair with a bag and possibly win said bag. I'm really loving their current collection, the colours are so vibrant and beautiful, the leather so soft and supple.

Then there's the smell, somehow the smell of leather of my Coccinelle bags seems more powerful than that of other leather bags.. I actually sometimes place my bag near me at my desk,  just so I can smell it whilst I work - yes I'm aware this might be considered freaky behaviour, who cares, as long as my nostrils are happy....

Click through the slideshow below for some leather feasting

Coccinelle is located in Sliema Tower Road right next to Solaris . More Coccinelle - related posts here

Shopping Post : Let's Look Inside MAX&Co

A few weeks ago, I released the super-exciting-lets-dance-a-jig news that come next September I will be a brand ambassador for Max&Co Malta which means lots of lovely outfits and some other Max&Co-related posts.

From feedback I received, it seems there are still some of you out there who aren't that familiar with the brand. For starters just a little bit of info re the brand -  Max&Co is an Italian fashion brand and a member company of the Max Mara Fashion Group and of course there are stores across Europe. What I really love about the clothes is that they are a fusion of contemporary designs (some of them could even be called eclectic) and Italian quality and tailoring, in other words they are right up my alley.

I visited the shop last week for this week's edition of Caroline hits a shop and shows you what's in stock and snapped a few pics of my favourite items, I'm particularly in love with the yellow section...yellow remains one of my favourite colours for summer...and this season it seems like it's even more fashionable than the previous years.

LOVEEE those shoes

Obsessed with this pantsuit

Patterned Denim is always fabulous
Obligatory mirror selfie - with these awesome wide legged cropped trousers - amazing if you'e tall

BTW MAX&Co is located in Sliema right next to the Car Park, ICentre and Next

Shopping Post : It's CATWALK time with HILFIGER DENIM

I skipped a shopping post last week ...got too caught up with fashion week but i'll make it up to you with a couple this week - so lets say that for last week's edition of Caroline hits a store and shows you what's in stock, as part of my ongoing collaboration with Hilfiger Denim Malta - I'm going to post my favourite looks from the fashion show held at the Point a few weeks ago. Models from supernovamodels.com. All photos by Kurt Paris.

Daniela works this outfit so well, long thin legs look stunning in these trousers and the flared top just balances everything out perfectly.

I LOVE those shorts and shoes.

Very interesting jacket

Pink trousers are always a favourite of mine but I love the fact that they've been paired with a cropped shirt - brilliant

I'm still hopelessly in love with polka dots and that will never change

Hilfiger denim can also be found in the basement level of the Tommy Hilfiger store in Valletta. If you happen to be a creature of the web you might also want to press LIKE here

Shopping Post : Leaving comfort zones and Revisiting an Oldie - FOSSIL

It would probably be a fair assumption to make, that most Maltese people my age (I'm 30 folks) have owned a Fossil watch at some point in their lives. Fossil was one of the first designer jewellery brands in Malta and some 10/12 odd years ago, we all fell head over heels in love with their watches. For some strange reason or other, I realised last week that I hadn't spent some quality time with the Fossil brand in a few years now and this got me thinking...

I'm generally an analytical person..blame it on my scientific background, I do love to analyse people and their thoughts, even random passers by, but my all-time favourite subject has to be myself, which means that analysing myself is something I tend to do on a regular basis. Funnily enough, this has gradually brought me to the realisation that I'm actually a rather strange, contradictory person.

A good example is that I love switching about my daily routine and I always crave variety in my life but at the same time I find it really hard to leave my comfort zone with certain little things like my daily desk. I also came to realise that although when I'm travelling I hunt down all the artisan markets and look for all the local shops, when it comes to shopping in Malta, I've somewhat been creating comfort zones as to where I shop from. I've also been putting shops into categories and leaving them there and this is BAD v BAD.

This realisation hit me a while ago and was one of the reasons as to why I started the series of Caroline hits a shop per week (or more) and shows you what's in stock...the idea was to introduce or re-introduce myself and you to shops I might not have visited in a while or possibly never (although this might be a bit unlikely unless the shop has just opened).

So as mentioned in the opening line, for this week's edition, I've left my 'usual' zone and re-visited a brand that I started loving  back when I was 18 and maybe actually that's why I had bypassed it of late.....I had simply given it too much love in my life already :) Now, time to stop rambling and talk about the shop and ladies and gents (yes we've paid attention to the men too this week) - I present to you FOSSIL at Sunlab (The Point).

After examining the new collection of Fossil products, I feel that the brand has retained the quality it was always renowned for but I also feel that it has grown up a bit, the majority of the styles feel a bit more refined, a bit more chic & stylish and possibly a little sleeker.

Check out these pics and see if you agree - oh and this week's edition is special - I made the hubby (Kurt Paris) come to Sunlab and take the photos and we incorporated selfie-style pics into the equation..truth be told I was hoping he would also buy me those earrings in the third pic..but no such luck..*sigh* ...maybe he reads this ....

Not actually sure which of these I like most
please ?
A gorgeous bracelet to wear to a wedding /formal do

LOVE the cute charms

Kurt posed as well !!! :D for meeee...ay this is the best photo ?

He also snapped some merchandise pics in the Sunlab store too and these are on my facebook page right here.

Shopping Post : Swimwear Time ! Nautical Inspiration

For this week's edition of Caroline hits a shop and shows you what's in stock - we're focusing on nautical-inspired swimwear and I've chosen the literally-just-arrived range at Tommy Hilfiger Baystreet.

Throughout the colder months I'm not really one to go for anything navy and I tend to stay away from looks that are vaguely nautical...when summer arrives though I notice that without actually thinking about it, I start to gravitate towards these colours...however I've also noticed that the pieces I focus more attention on are generally less preppy and maybe with something cute or 'different' in the design.

In this swimwear range ..there's both..there's perfectly preppy nautical that is Tommy Hilfiger all over but then there are some cuter styles (look right down for the red checked bikini ...awwww)

and some with gold hardware additions that are ultra stylish like this first pic below.

Bikini Shopping Advice Now I'm one of those people that hates trying on clothes and often 'just buy' stuff but when buying swimwear I do really advocate that you ensure it fits perfectly.....the pants should NOT dig into the waist and create love handles, the bra cups should NOT be half empty and the back strap should remain in a horizontal line. For apples I recommend swimsuits as a much more flattering option...if you've got broad shoulders avoid halter necks. For pears bikinis with a bit of top padding and strapless or halter styles are your best bet, for pears avoid buying pants that cover too much of your bum, ironically that will make it look larger.

All the diff styles together...
And to carry alll those important things...you know beach towel..book...sweets that don't melt....

For those who really truly truly don't know, there are Tommy Hilfiger Stores in Baystreet and Valletta and they have a facebook page right here .

Shopping Post : Ecco at King Shoe Shop

This week's instalment of Caroline visits a shop and shows you what's in stock is King Shoe Shop in San Gwann, which some people refer to as Ecco. Ecco as a brand has always been synonymous with comfort and quality, few people have worn their shoes without exclaiming over the extreme comfort, even after extended periods of wear. I own a few pairs of Ecco shoes myself and I have to concur and say that the comfort is phenomenal...the shock absorption, arch support and supple leather make walking a lovely affair.

I'm not so sure however, that they are generally as renowned for fashion and style, whilst their styles are always pleasant, they are really quite 'safe' and not ground breaking. This year however they seem to have pushed up the style factor a few notches and come out with some cool stuff and some lovely bright colours. I love espadrilles, I've often mentioned this, so if you follow me you probably already know..and one of my favourite things about them is that they can be worn with the back folded....now Ecco have come out with this leather espadrille-like foldable flat shoe that is adorable!

I really want the yellow ones..can just see them worn with a cute pair of little denim shorts and a loose white top and of course sunny sunny weather...*wishlist addition*

Their trainers also really impressed me, I've said this before but I have to say it again...trainers are really popular this season and these leather ones with bright coloured laces are perfect for wearing with cropped jeans, printed leggings, and even dresses.

And then we have their handbags...being a handbag lover it surprised me to realise that I have never given much attention to the Ecco handbags, always keeping my focus on the shoes but the handbags are quite lovely indeed...and the leather is so soft and supple ..really, really beautiful leather...and they're got some lovely bright coloured ones too!

And now to pay some attention to the menfolk too, thereare some great trainers here again and some styles that are a style cross between shoes and trainers - love them!

This is a great alternative to the standard hand luggage

And now for the best part there is currently an offer on vouchercloud.com.mt whereby you can get 15% off the new collection and 20% off on handbags!

Happy Shopping!!

Events Post : Press go Shopping at a new New Look

About a week or so ago, the New Look store at the point unveiled a revamped store that is absolutely stunning and to mark the occasion they invited some stylists and press people over for a 50% shopping spree and a lovely lunch at Fratelli di Bufala.

Like most girls I first started shopping at New Look at quite a young age, I was about 14 when I discovered it in London. As the years passed although their collections target a variety of ages I wasn't always too enamoured with the collections they churned out, there were seasons when there'd actually be nothing I wanted in store. However over the last few seasons, I noticed a change in their designs and practically each time I went in, I unfortunately generally ended up buying something. This season, the new collection is really really great, and the biggest improvement is actually probably in the men's department...it's very snazzy., the women's jeans come in at a close second with probably one of the largest selection of jeans around.

Check out some store photos (all the trends are there: denim cutoffs, slogan tshirts, chunky jewellery, floral patterns, block stripes, multicolour shoes, black lace):

I really enjoyed the event, I bought some wonderful stuff both for me and the hubby, ate a really delicious 3 course lunch (with a yummy choc desert at the end of it) and enjoyed some lovely, interesting company which was incidentally not just fashion talk.
