Malta Fashion Week : GAGLIARDI : 2015

Photo : Antonella Vella

The International Night at Malta Fashion Week showcased some wonderful designers from Serbia, London, Paris, Cyprus and Nigeria but our only local representation GAGLIARDI deserve their own post.

What Sam Borg and his team have done with the brand is quite remarkable. From the long-established company BORTEX, synonymous with well-tailored, good quality office wear and suits, he has launched a brand that produces tailored, fashionable, creative, menswear that is loved and worn by most men in Malta is now also gaining traction abroad.

The collection did definitely not disappoint - the quality is high, the styling perfect and the finishing of the product excellent. Hats off to everyone involved in making this brand the success it is.

My favourite piece would have to be this jacket below - now just to convince them to make one for women...

My Styling Work : Venere Goes Abseiling

A few months ago one of the editions of lifestyle and fashion, Maltese TV programme Venere featured my styling work.  I collaborated with local fashion designer Ritienne Zammit

The photographer, Kurt Paris, decided he wanted to try something different....fashion whilst abseiling down from a cliff.
I decided to go with a 'Tokyo Punk' inspiration for the look of the girls, so lots of crazy colour, different patterns and textures, coloured punk hair styles and vivid makeup.

Photos by Kurt Paris
Hair: Gordon Mayo Toni and Guy Malta
Makeup: Elaine Galea
Sylist: Caroline Paris
Clothes Ritienne Zammit Designs
Shoes: Aldo
Special Thanks to. EFRU
Artistic Director : Adrian J Mizzi
Shoot taken for VENERE produced by Motion blur & UNIQUE PROMOTIONS

The models were Katryona Calleja below :

Amy Brooke

and Jennifer Belli

The weather was horrible that day, cold, rainy, windy so I truly admire everyone who got into the harnesses and braved the cliffs..I on the other hand decided to watch from afar..however many different jibes abotu me not being a good stylist were pulled by Arian and Kurt.

The girls were initially quite scared, especially poor Amy who was the first one down, however the results are fantastic...

A big well done to the whole team, I'm very happy with the result:)

Shopping Post : Skater Dresses on Sale

By popular request - after yesterday's post some more sale items with a focus on dresses - skater dresses to be precise, one of the hottest items we've had his year..and they suit so many different figure types, they're great for pear shaped girls, great for hourglass and can also be pulled off by apples sometimes (find one with a higher waistline that's right under the bust).

Now you may notice that I haven't listed the shops where these dresses are from - for kicks I'm leaving a bit of mystery on this one....you need to click on the individual images to see where they're from!

Happy Shopping!!

Shopping & Trends Post : It's a Blue New Season at Oasis

For 2014 I've decided to start a series of touring different stores, snapping photos and picking out rends across the collections, these will include both stores that are regular sponsors to this blog and those that aren't but have noteworthy items in their collection. I'm going to try and make this posts at least a once weekly occasion :) For the first post I've started with Oasis.

I popped by Oasis last week to take a look at the new stock and there's some yummy, yummy stuff. One of the colours that's really making an appearance in the upcoming seasonal collections across different stores, is the colour blue...different shades of blue..from bright cobalt blues to the darker shades of teal..it seems like the blue family has coming into some fame!

To be fair blue was in fact one of the hottest colours on the catwalk last September (SS 14 Shows) but not all trends end up  making it off the catwalk and onto the high street - this seems to be a popular one though!

Check out some photos below - lots of patterns to play around with too - stripes, floral, lace motifs...

I'm also developing a thing for the colours blue and grey paired together - oh and this skirt is adorable, so cute!

Shopping Post : A Pattern or Two?

I've spoken about my love for patterns on multiple occasions and thanks to the fashion universe powers they're still very much in vogue for 2014....Oasis, which is one of those few shops that really knows how to capture high street trends in a chic manner, making them also suitable for those women who are no longer teens, has a lovely selection of patterned clothing in their new stock.

POLKAAAAAA - I will never ever tire of polka dots.
Hearts are my second fave after polka dots.

Floral patterns have come such a long, modern way since the days of granny floral dresses!

Really love the way this mannequin is dressed in the store..love the colours, the polka dot worn with stripes....and love the chunky floral necklace- super duper!
