Beauty Post : PUPA Vamp Eyeshadow

Whenever I'm packing for a trip abroad, I always hassle when it comes to choosing what makeup to take with me. I always want way too many things. On a recent trip to Paris which you can read more about here, I decided to take this aptly named PUPA Vamp eyeshadow from their Paris Experience Autumn Collection - perfect time to test it I thought - well with all the madness the past month has brought I completely forgot about it until I saw this photo and my purple eye shadow struck me and ....then I remembered..

This photo was taken after about 4 hrs that it has been applied and it still looks great. I love the colour because it works both as a standalone colour or as part of a blend.. the quality is very smooth and it glides on easily. In general, I always like PUPA makeup and the best part is they're such great value for money.

Beauty Post : Coloured Eyeliners and a PUPA Review

A few months ago I discovered coloured mascaras and black eyelashes were suddenly a thing of my past.....now, I've suddenly got a thing for coloured liquid eyeliners and it's a strong possibility that black lined eyes are also going to slowly fade away from my life.

I've always loved colour, barring a short phase were my fifteen-year-old self thought anything not black is so uncool and actually committed the blasphemy of saying pink is for kids, at all other points in my life I've loved colour..... an extra cherry on top for pink. This colour fondness has always been somewhat incorporated within my makeup, it's not uncommon at all for me to be sporting bright orange and yellow eyes, especially throughout the warmer months. Coloured liquid eyeliners are a fab way of dressing up your eyes with minimal effort. The great thing about them, is that whilst they ofc also look fab paired with eyeshadow, they also look equally fab worn alone...meaning your makeup job time has been halved.

PUPA Malta recently sent me two great products to experiment with from the summer collection - a green liquid eyeliner and a lovely palette with two eyeshadow colours - pink and green (N0S 004) ! I've spent most of the past week wearing these products in different ways ...but the one that struck my fancy most was the idea of wearing them together (check out first pic)..it's quite a bold look, but I think it looks really nice and somewhat original which is always a plus for me.

In terms of product quality, the eyeliner is perfect, easy to apply (it's a felt tip so no wobbling) and its staying power is ridiculously good, the only con infact is that it takes a while to remove even with waterproof remover. The eyeshadow is lovely, the colours are not as bright as they seem in the palette but they can be made brighter if multiple layers are applied, the consistency is nice and not chalky and they glides on smoothly. Again staying power is brilliant.

So colour on your eyes...what do you think ..?

Outfit Post : Malta Fashion Week Launch Party - It's a World Full of Eyes - and a NEW blog

And so this is fashion week.......Malta fashion week 2014 begins. As has been customary for the last couple of years, the kick off was a launch party at Medasia, at which guests were plied with cocktails, yummy sushi & falafel bites and great music and conversation. There were also a couple of super cool outfits running around, both boys and girls...wohooooo...perfect start to my favourite week of the year.

You may also have noticed that I'm launching a brand new blog design..LOVE the design by the amazing The 9nth Wish, I also have a brand new logo that I think really epitomizes what me and my work is all about.

And now for the launch party outfit - it's all about Kenzo - my current favourite designer brand that has me regularly adding things to my shopping basket and then removing them and then of course re-adding later. I bought this iconic eye sweater in Paris last January, I had decided I was buying it before I got there but  the sales person informed me that it was sold out and I was sooo annoyed.....but I hung around the shop looking at other things and a few minutes later mysteriously saw him walking around with one that I grabbed and made mine.

The trousers, I bought later..I had always wanted to complete the set but kept trying to stop myself shopping - I failed and decided they'd make the perfect fashion week ensemble and therefore were necessary.

There were of course additions to the sweater and trousers combo and this came in the form of blue eye shadow, purple eye liner and blue mascara, chandelier earrings also from Paris (see I planned ahead) an exquisite, patterned new bucket patterned leather bag  and a very cool new pair of shoes that are actually really comfortable. Last but not least - check out this hairstyle by the ever-amazing Svetlana at Toni and Guy Hilton.

Beauty Post : KIKO Blue Mascara & PUPA Navy Chic Palette

In a previous post I mentioned how blue make up has taken over this summer - I know a lot of you have horrible images of that powder blue eye-shadow look with pink blush and pink lipstick from the 80's but this time round it's different, more subtle, more blended, and the idea is for there to be hints of blue rather than all-over-the-eye bright blue eye shadow. Also we're no longer pairing it with bright pink cheeks and lips.

PUPA Malta sent me the VAMP! COMPACT EYESHADOW PALETTE from the COLLECTION NAVY CHIC (colour code 003). You can see the different colours in the palette in the photo above.

I've been using this palette quite often, in the first photo above there are two different looks , in the leftmost photo it's white and dark blue colours blended with a bit of brown worn with blue mascara, in the rightmost photo it's the white and light blue worn with the blue eye liner from this collection that I reviewed here.

The quality of the eye shadow is great, doesn't crumble, is easy to blend and is long lasting (however I always wear it over an eye shadow base). I love the mix of colours, it makes it really easy to create either an intense dark blue colour or something more subtle and low key blended with brown.

Now onto the blue mascara, as mentioned here, coloured mascara is my thing of late and in this photo below you can see my sky blue mascara. I've also got green, berry, and purple - the problem with coloured mascaras generally is that he colour doesn't show up properly. This particular blue one is by KIKO and the pigment is awesome one of the most pigmented coloured mascara I've ever seen but unfortunately it is a bit clumpy so I don't rate it too highly and am on the lookout for a better brand with just as much pigment.

Beauty Post : PUPA Blue Eyeliner - NAVY CHIC

First of all let me start by saying..if you haven't realised already the current trend in makeup is blue, blue blue blue...this is NOT the horrible all over-eye-blue eye shadow look from the 80s but a nicer subtle mix of different shades of blue to make the yes pop...don't be scared try it.

One of the most recent products sent to me for review by the lovely people at PUPA Malta was the  VAMP! PROFESSIONAL LINER Eyeliner with Ultra-Fine Brush - WATERPROOF (colour 300 - light blue) from The Spring 2014 COLLECTION NAVY CHIC.

The usual things we look for in an eye pencil are
  • ease of application
  • colour pay-off
  • product doesn't run
  • smooth texture
  • ability to draw both thick and thin lines
Review

One coat was applied.
  • ease of application - I found it easy to apply, product glided on smoothly abut some people might have trouble managing the thin brush. 8/10
  • colour pay-off - Colour is a nice shade of blue, very flattering. - 9/10
  • product doesn't run - After a whole day was no running of product, product is waterproof - 10/10
  • smooth texture - The resulting finish is very smooth, no bumps in sight  - 10/10
  • ability to draw both thick and thin lines - It is only possible to draw thin to medium lines properly since the brush is quite thin - 7/10
Overall Score - 8.8/10

Another Winning Score for PUPA - I must say their make up seems to go from strength to strength, always impresses me.

Beauty Post : PUPA VAMP! Compact Eyeshadow Review

Colour 303 is the colour being reviewed

PUPA, the Italian cosmetics company have just launches the Vamp compact eyeshadows - full of very intense, rich colours.

I was asked to review one of these shades and I chose the 303 PETROL colour. I usually stay away from blues to be honest, but what with having changed my dark colour, what with wanting to try something different, I decided to go for this shade. It's also not a complete blue since it has shades of teal in it.

Final result can be seen below, that is the result after one and a half applications over the whole eyelid :

Review & Thoughts:

Colour payoff - 10/10 - very intense colour that did not fade.
Lasting Power - 10/10 - lasted all day.
Ease of application - 6/10 - there was some colour fallout when applying so it needs some concentration and might be best applied prior to applying foundation. (note that instruction say to brush off excess powder before applying, which I did but either I didn't tap hard enough or there was still some fallout..)
Packaging : 9/10 - I love the size and the catchy logo, looks snazzy.
Ease of removal - 9/10 - came off fairly quickly.
Texture - 7/10 Good but requires some blending with a good blending brush to get an even colour spread.

Overall Score - 8.5 -  a good score which makes me want to purchase some more shades :D

Beauty Post : Classics Review PUPA Mascara and Eyeliner

Today I decided to conduct a 2-in-1 review. The most basic of all make-up is probably black eye-liner and black mascara, a lot of women consider these two to be the bare essentials; this means they are the most use products so it's important for the products you choose to use to be of a high quality.

1. Mascara

The usual things we look for in mascara are

  • lash length enhancement
  • lash volume increase
  • colour pay-off
  • product doesn't run
  • product doesn't clump

Product - PUPA VAMP Mascara

Even if you haven't use his mascara, you've probably heard of it; it's very, very popular.

Review

Three coats were applied to back and front of upper lashes and one coat was applied to bottom lashes.

  • lash length enhancement - There was a visible increase in length of lashes; lashes looked significantly longer, separated and defined -   9/10
  • lash volume increase - There wasn't a huge volume increase although individual lashes looked thicker there isn't a volume increase per se - 6/10
  • colour pay-off - Colour is a very nice shade of intense black. - 10/10
  • product doesn't run - After 4 hours there has been no running of product. - 10/10
  • product doesn't clump - Whilst applying the product there was some initial clumping but this was easily corrected using the brush  - 7/10
Overall Score - 8.4/10 - Definitely a Winning Score. I'm pleased with this mascara and will probably repurchase once it is used up.

1. Eye Pencil

The usual things we look for in an eye pencil are

  • ease of application
  • colour pay-off
  • product doesn't run
  • smooth texture
  • ability to draw both thick and thin lines

Product :  PUPA MADE TO LAST EYES - Automatic Eye Pencil

Review

One coat was applied.

  • ease of application - Relatively easy to apply, product glides on smoothly and since it has an automatic sharpening mechanism, there's no need to worry about sharpening it   -   9/10
  • colour pay-off - Colour is a nice shade of intense black. - 10/10
  • product doesn't run - After 4 hours there has been no running of product and product is waterproof - 10/10
  • smooth texture - Product glides on smoothly and therefore the resulting finish is very smooth and no bumps in sight  - 10/10
  • ability to draw both thick and thin lines - I initially tried drawing a thin line but I fond this a bit difficult, mid-to thick lines will generally be achieved whilst using this product - 6/10
Overall Score - 9/10 - Another Winning Score. I'm ultra pleased with this eye pencil and it has made it into my everyday makeup bag.

Final Look

Beauty Post : NYE : Glitter Eyeliner with PUPA

I was given this glittery liquid eyeliner by PUPA Malta to try out and review. It is part of the princess collection.

From their website:

DIAMOND EYELINER A gel formula that combines glitter and microcrystalline pearls, for a full-effect and amazingly luminous look. A double use: wear it alone - for a shiny result - or as a top coat over  eyeshadow, eye pencil and eyeliner, to add light to the make-up look.

Easy to apply and long lasting. Product Code : 002 Diamond Green

Result in pics below, yes those are my eyes:

I found the product very easy to use and very long lasting. I applied it over eyeshadow as a liner both on the top lid and under my eye. I used about three coats to get the desired effect.

This product is really great for a night out ...for when you want to look all done up and fab....perfect for NYE!
