News Flash : A Burger and a T-Shirt

Over the past few years, fast food and fashion have been making an unlikely pairing. It all started when Moschino launched their McDonalds-inspired collection, the trend caught on in high street stores in a big way - with clothing items covered in pizzas, chips and burgers appearing everywhere and becoming sell out items. House of Holland even had nails created  and ASOS designed burger and fries plimsolls.

McDonald's, after all, is the actual original Moschino inspiration. They have decided to play their own fashion game and they started out in Paris at the iconic Colette store - they launched the specifically designed merchandise with pictorials resembling icons, like the ones used on tablets and apps (pic below). In Italy, they did something similar, they partnered up with the mega store Coin and even had skateboards designed.

Since you're on my blog and we're in Malta - yep you guessed it - they're launching the line for Malta, the style is similar, using the same images. There are a number of summer-related items - tote bags, towels, ball and racquets and my fave of the lot - t-shirts.

When this trend first made an appearance, I wasn't too sure I liked the idea of wearing fast-food but it did grow on me and there's an obvious humorous element to wearing a t-shirt with a bag of fries on it. I especially liek the idea of sunbathing on a burger towel on a sandy beach - that would be one interesting selfie opportunity.

So how do you get your hands on this stuff? Well their slogan is ‘Everybody is a Winner with McDonald’s’ from 19th June onwards and will involve a scratch card competition - so stay tuned.

Which T-Shirt would you want  ?- the ice cream / the burger or the fries? I think I want a burger.

Brand Spotlight : Paula Cademartori at Milan Fashion Week

In Milan I saw too many beautiful things and as a result got too many cravings (of both the food and fashion variety). One of my favourite things on Day 3 was the Paula Cademartori bag & shoes preview. besides their ultra original, quirky designs, the quality of the product supersedes most other bags I've seen, and I've seen A LOT of expensive bags.

These bags are Made in Italy and exquisitely made from start to finish, with every single detail having been taken care of. When I say detail I mean detail - it's impressive to witness when looking at these bags up close.

"The precious seal of each model is a metal buckle, personally designed by Paula supported by her background in jewellery and industrial design."

And check out Beyonce below !!!

For the first time this coming Winter Paola will be launching a footwear line - it features the same exciting designs, and same attention to detail as her bags do.

Check out that sexy back

And look who dropped by to meet the designer - it's BryanBoy

AltaRoma Weekend Diaries - Bella Roma

If you missed all of my 101 Instagram Rome posts - I spent last weekend in Rome. I traveled to Rome for the AltaRoma Haute Couture shows and some meetings related to the Chamber of Fashion Malta.

Apart from fashion, there was time spent walking around Rome, shopping the beautiful boutiques and of course eating lots of amazing food. I simply love Rome, I can't get enough of that city - the people are friendly, the fashion is fabulous, the food is extraordinary and there's something interesting to see at every turn. When I'm there all I want to do is walk, walk, walk and eat.

Here's some photo highlights from my trip

Events : AltaRoma : Antonio Grimaldi Spring - Summer 15

Saturday night - the talk of the fashion scene in Rome was the Antonio Grimaldi Spring/Summer 15 Haute Couture show.

He describes his collection as being inspired by the magic of flowers which was immediately evident by the fascinating catwalk carpet - 22 metres of colourful flower petals (14 thousand and 500 carnations) fashioned into a baroque mosaic by masters of a skill called Infiorata Flower from the Festival of Genzano - the result was breathtaking.

Onto the clothes - light, sheer, fabrics that flowed as the models walked, the models seemed to almost be gliding in a  breezy wind. The feeling I got when when watching this show was one of romance, of sensuality.

The main protagonist of his collection is definitely the dress. Different styles of dress, each beautiful in their individual way - his skill at playing with with different fabrics and shapes is tremendous. The female body is enhanced in all the pieces with transparencies that hint at fifties inspired lingerie corsets and nipped in waists

There were also some lovely prints, some even hand painted, reminiscent of the stunning work of photographer Irving Penn.

Shopping : Let's stroke some leather at Coccinelle

I've decided to post not one but two shopping posts this week and the second one is at Coccinelle who just last week hosted a super event whereby shoppers were sent a piece of material which they then had to pair with a bag and possibly win said bag. I'm really loving their current collection, the colours are so vibrant and beautiful, the leather so soft and supple.

Then there's the smell, somehow the smell of leather of my Coccinelle bags seems more powerful than that of other leather bags.. I actually sometimes place my bag near me at my desk,  just so I can smell it whilst I work - yes I'm aware this might be considered freaky behaviour, who cares, as long as my nostrils are happy....

Click through the slideshow below for some leather feasting

Coccinelle is located in Sliema Tower Road right next to Solaris . More Coccinelle - related posts here

Outfit Post : Roaming Around Rome

You might remember around a month ago I went to Rome and ALTARoma..I posted photos of what I wore to the events but I took my time with the general roaming around Rome daily outfits ..sorry..I've been trying to work a little less in August as I was feeling a little burnt out and needed some general rest.

But here's a 2-in-1 special :D. When on holiday my main priority is always comfort and the ability to walk walk walk and did I mention walk ? This trip in particular involved an immense amount of walking so I took up my most comfortable pair of sandals - Ecco sandals (King Shoe Shop Malta, similar in style to Birkenstocks - more of the whole ugly sandal trend) but the special thing about these shoes is that they allow for custom orthotics insoles to fit in place of the original footbed.

This day was a Sunday and I spent it shopping around the Spanish Steps area, visiting the Andy Warhol exhibition and just simply enjoying Rome...it was a bit rainy unfortunately but oh well.

 Outfit Details : Top, Shirt, Trousers : ASOS / Necklace : Suiteblanco / Bag : Coccinelle / Shoes : Ecco / Watch : ToyWatch

This next outfit was for the last day which we spent visiting the Colosseum (there's a new brilliant tour that you can book that takes you both underground and right to the very top), eating pizza, more walking, and a little bit more shopping :D I got the chance to wear my lovely new Coccinelle hat :D What do you think of it ?
