Milan Fashion Week : AIGNER

Whilst in Milan last February I watched the Aigner show - Aigner is a luxury German brand highly renowned especially for its leather goods. The collection celebrated 50 years and the colour palette was vivid and striking. There was an interesting mix of nude options followed by bright combinations of bright lime worked with vivid patterns. Fur was a main presence as in all of the Milan shows and leather was also heavily used.
This leather dress below was my favourite piece. Fur shoes were popular at this season's shows and I think they can add an interesting element to an outfit as long as they're not overused.

Spotlight on NICHOLAS K at Milan Fashion Week

The NICHOLAS K label is made up of designer duo Nicholas and Christopher Kunz - two designers that together have created something very visually exiting. They showcased in New York this Fashion Week as well but I got the chance to catch the Milan Show.

Th collection immediately brings to mind the exploration theme with both the accessories and colour palate evoking ideas of both desserts and urban life. They  cite the explorer Isabelle Eberhart a brave woman who left Geneva as a young girl and traveled to North Africa dressed as a man to fight against the injustices of colonial rule and help the poor. The pieces are powerful, designed for a strong, powerful woman. There are some truly interesting pieces and I particularly liked the jackets - both the shawl-style ones and the shorter more biker-influenced-style.

Spotlight on CIVIDINI at Milan Fashion Week

Miriam and Piero Cividini are partners in business and life. Their fashion design combines  their personalities and clever ideas with a clever mix of handcraft and modern technology. The original small collection of knitwear cashmere has grown significantly over the years and this year their show was one of the most attended at Milan Fashion Week.

The collection presented is quite a timeless one with a very interesting colour palette. Shades of browns and beiges mixed in with blacks and greys and purples and plums made for very interesting visual interest. Key materials found within the collection are leather, fur, cashmere (of course!) and wool. I also loved the interesting layering styling ideas presented and the hairstyles that really complemented the look.

Outfit Post : Milan Fashion Week Day 4

4th Day in Milan, 9th Day of Fashion Weeks = very, very tired feet. It was time to bring out the trainers again. This day involved many, many presentations and quite a few shows too so I wanted a rather comfortable outfit. I also planned on changing into something a bit more glamorous for the evening since it was a Saturday and it had dawned on me that people here tended to get changed for the night shows - not something done in London - so this was actually outfit 4.5. The photo above and below are right after Ermanno Scervino and with an Italian blogger I made friends with, Ornelia that runs The Fashion Dance.

Milan Fashion Week : Joshua Fenu & Magical Feet

I saw a lot, a lot of shoes at Milan Fashion Week, if you can really call them shoes because they're all more like little works of art. One of the most striking shoe presentations I visited was most definitely Joshua Fenu. His shoes have a little touch of magic about them.

Milan Fashion Week : BYBLOS

At BYBLOS rich blue was the hue of choice - the clothes were fresh and structured, with a fun, young vibe and clean elegant lines. These re the type of clothes you want to wear out on Saturday night to a party at a stylish venue with equally stylish people in attendance.

This dress is extremely beautiful and is in my opinion the standout piece of the collection, the combination of sheer material and geometric shapes makes for such an interesting, clever effect - I find the result to be wonderful.

Milan Fashion Week : Ermanno Scervino A/W 15/16

Attending the Ermanno Scervino A/W 15/16 fashion show in Milan was a definite highlight of my trip. This made in Italy brand is actually one of my favourites - as the designer himself says - his clothes are always feminine and well tailored, representing quality and elegance.
' I love playing with the identity of gender, never calling it into question. My woman is always feminine even when she is wearing a masculine overcoat. It can be perfect to enhance her seductiveness.'

The collection was made up of different mini sections flowing from one onto the other. It started with a few pieces representing quilting material with voluminous skirts and fitted jackets.

I was rather pleased to see the houndstooth tweed pattern make an appearance, this is a pattern that's classical but statement-making at the same time. In this collection it  was used on tailored pieces sparking with embellishments and bold red accents.

There were also military inspired pieces, again embellished with rich accents such as crystals and fur

But the definite star of the show was the beautiful royal blue pieces, this dress in particular is absolutely gorgeous.

And to end the show - luxurious gowns in organza that make you think of fairies
