Shopping : Have You Visited LULĂ™ ?

The first time I discovered  Lulu` Boutique, I was driving to Busy Bee for cannoli. I was determinedly focused on convincing my parking angels to help me, when out of the corner on my eye an eye-catching blue shop front with a pretty display caught my attention. Food, and cannoli in particular, are of utmost importance but priorities are priorities and I found myself stopping and parking further up from Busy Bee, leaving the car and somehow walking towards this shop.

This was actually about a year ago and it's one of those stories I've always meant to tell, but somehow I kept putting on the back burner. Recently, however, I visited the store and since this was a planned exploration, my camera actually came with me and kept itself busy, whilst I gabbed with Marisa the owner and looked around.

The shop has actually been open since April 2013 and they have different stuff for lots of different tastes and ages - I saw pieced I'd recommend to my mother and pieces that I gave a new home to. The shop is not a franchise, so it doesn't stock one particular brand or other - there are different pieces sourced from many different brands. This means you're never quite sure what you'll find. Shops like this are not that common anymore and whilst I love my favourite franchise stores, sometimes, I miss that feeling of simply popping in to see what they have rather than going straight for that piece you've spotted on the net.

So my camera took these pics - intelligent ain't it ? It spotted this lace blazer below at once, it's perfect for wearing over a coloured dress to a Spring morning wedding or simply out to dinner over jeans on a breezy night.

This a-line skirt and crop top below is one of the cutest little outfits ever

70s vibe all the way

And as per the usual for my shopping posts, there are even more photos for you to filter through, in the slideshow below

For the finer details of life : Lulu` Boutique is open from Monday to Saturday from 9.30a.m to 19.30p.m. We are in Malta so you know - there is ‘Lulu Boutique, Msida’ on Facebook.

Random Post : Handbag Organisers

One of the things I hate most is hunting for stuff in my large bags - whatever I'm looking for, somehow, always seems to be right at the bottom, which means it takes me ages to find it. Changing around large handbags is also a nightmare as it involves transferring all the various items from one bag to another. I could of course buy more compartmental or smaller bags or always use the same handbag but what's the fun in that.

I was happy to discover organiser bags - the first brad I cam across is Tintamar - sold at various online stores and at Porto in MaltaThey exist in various sizes and fabrics and colours and have all these handy pouches and zips so you can store items of different sizes in different parts of it. It also means that when changing bag, all that it involves is transferring the organiser from one bag to another - brillaint right? They're priced between 30 - 40 euros depending on the size and colour.

I didn't actually buy one of the Tintamar ones, I kept meaning to but I was being a bit miserly about spending 40 euros on a bag that goes inside another bag, so I decided to run an ebay search. I found the following listing selling for less than 3 euros:  Handbag Organiser.  I bought it and it's absolutely great - not of as high a quality as the Tintamar ones but it doesn't feel that cheap either. It has different compartments, some zipped, some open and fits all my stuff really well.

Changing my bag in the morning has now become a piece of cake :D. You might want to invest in one of these organisers....let me know if you do...

Brand Spotlight : A look at Scotch&Soda - Shopping for MEN

Recently, I introduced online and local store Junction Malta and a female brand they carry Maison Scotch. You might recall me mentioning that Maison Scotch is the female branch of Dutch brand Scotch & Soda which caters for males. Both brands are available at Junction and there are some really nice items in the collection.

Some photos I snapped in store:

Who wouldn't want a pineapple shirt ?

According to the brand the SS 2014 collection has the following themes:
  • CHIQUE L’AFRIQUE ("delicate batik prints with a streetstyle 80s spin")
  • RETRO RESORT ("a flourishing mix of 50s Cadillac checks and sun-faded deck chair stripe"
  • COASTAL CLASH ("a mix of playful, chic and versatile pieces that can be layered together in unexpected combinations")
  • THE CRUISE COLLECTION ("Inspired by exotic cruise vacations during the 50s, our new postcard graphics and retro pineapple prints create an exciting high summer mood")

I've put together the following outfit - yes I am really into this pineapple shirt and I love the quality of their jeans and wallets..yes I know jeans have got absolutely nothing to do with wallets but I think the quality is great of both those ranges of products..so sue me :)

And what would a Spring and Summer collection be without swimwear - excellent range of swim shorts ---loving the leftmost printed one!

Brand Spotlight : A look at Maison Scotch at Junction

A month or so ago, I wrote about JUNCTION, a shop I had been slightly unfamiliar with which stocks the uber fantastic Dutch brand Maison Scotch, you might also recall I showed off a new leopard print jacket from the store .

To recap - Junction is both an online store for both local and international customers and they also have two stores in Malta, one at the Plaza, Sliema and another at Savoy Shopping Arcade Valletta. Maison Scotch which is the female division of Scotch&Soda is so far only stocked online and at the Plaza.

It came to my attention that like me, a lot of Maltese people, women in particular, are largely unaware about this brand and shop and it's a shame because there are some really beautiful, high quality items. Whilst prices are not throwaway prices, they're mostly pretty affordable and a far cry away from high-end designer prices.

Who is this brand for?
The official line from the company is that they do not believe in target audiences and anyone and everyone can enjoy their products. However, I feel as though Maison Scotch is a brand for women who have left their teen years of throwaway fashion behind and are now looking to purchase clothes of higher quality and with better tailoring whilst still being extremely stylish and for want of a better word 'trendy'.

So check out some pics I took in the Plaza Store - this new collection is mostly about femininity with lots of prints, soft patterns and some lovely skirts and dresses to be found.

The colours are soft and subtle and slightly muted; the colour card has shades like blush, coastal blue, limoncello, greys and black&white. There are also some interesting details to be found in the collection such as V shaped necklines that are cut just right so as not to give too much or too little cleavage.

JUNCTION offers free delivery to Malta and international delivery is charged at 15 euros; both are delivered within 3 days. They also have a facebook page . You can see my previous outfit post wearing Maison Scotch here.

Pippa has started to wear more patterns and colour and this waterfall cardigan is a cross between her skater style look and her smarter, more recent 'office' look - JANE NORMAN

Julia's dark skin tone and brown eyes really come alive in this gorgeous blue lace dress and chunky silver jewellery. The leather jacket and curb chain silver necklace give the outfit a bit of an edge and keep it from being overly feminine. - OASIS

Il-Klikka : My Styling Work : Season 3 Episode 19 - The Girls' Wardrobe

What did the Klikka girls wear in episodes 19? Read on to find out .............

For Season 3 of Il-Klikka (Maltese local television series), I am styling Julia played by Tezara Eve Camilleri, Pippa played by Valentina Rossi, Audrey played by Jessica Muscat, Daniela played by Tiziana Tedesco Triccas, Sarah played by Taryn Mamo Cefai.

Sarah's pretty in white and pink, pretty but fashionable all the same, an outfit designed to blend in rather than stand out... Audrey on the other hand is all about making a statement with her logo sweater and statement necklace - JANE NORMAN & ACCESSORIZE

Daniela looks less smart out on a hike than she does at the office, this pretty, patterned Spring dress topped with a bright handbag suits her ! - MONSOON & ACCESSORIZE

Julia might be going through some life changes but her wardrobe style has stuck to the classic look, this collared sweater is ultra trendy whilst still geared towards a classical approach to fashion, coloured jeans give it a bit more 'fashion status' - OASIS

Il-Klikka : My Styling Work : Season 3 Episode 18 - The Girls' Wardrobe

What did the Klikka girls wear in episodes 18? Read on to find out .............

For Season 3 of Il-Klikka (Maltese local television series), I am styling Julia played by Tezara Eve Camilleri, Pippa played by Valentina Rossi, Audrey played by Jessica Muscat, Daniela played by Tiziana Tedesco Triccas, Sarah played by Taryn Mamo Cefai.

Julia knows how to combine 'un and smart' very well... this top has a fun, exciting print but the blazer and trousers keep it looking professional, the cross  body bag adds the right element of 'toned down'  -  OASIS

Another classical look from Julia but with a bit of a twist.. floral paired with tweed - both floral and tweed are major reds, but they're not often worn together, Julia has always been a somewhat experimental dresser and this look works well on her. OASIS

Light, yellow-based tones look great on Daniela, this outfit is quite classical and smart and gives off a lovely relaxed vibe. -  MONSOON
Daniela simply rocks this black lace dress on her hourglass figure - JANE NORMAN

Outfit Post : Leopard Print, Baby Pink, Online Shopping and a Haircut

I recently asked a question on facebook asking Maltese people whether or not they would buy from an online Maltese shop, the answers were varied but mostly positive. Online shopping in Malta picked up much later than it did abroad. Since I am somewhat of a hybrid made up of a shopaholic and a techie, about 15 years ago I think I was one of the first Maltese people to start buying clothes online, certainly none of my friends did at the time. However, it has picked up now and most people I know have regular packages arriving from different international sites.

Interestingly enough, It seems as though not a lot of us know about our local shops which sell online though; confession time, I only recently became aware of JUNCTION myself. A bit of background, last week whilst working at the Plaza I decided to explore Junction (level 3), this shop had really hit my radar when it first opened but then I think I kind of kept forgetting about it which is silly because it stocks one of the coolest brands MAISON SCOTCH, this is the female line from the Amsterdam-based brand Scotch & Soda. This is a very high quality brand and up until last Thursday I was mistakenly under the impression that the prices are also very high but it is actually not the case...most of the new stock was actually priced almost half of what I thought it'd be.

Now for the online shopping part - JUNCTION has a website which has an online shop (which stocks both ladies and menswear). They offer free delivery to Malta and international delivery is charged at 15 euros; both are delivered within 3 days. They have some really cool things for sale and BARGAIN ALERT - there are some great things on sale too!

Now for my outfit - I'm actually wearing a jacket from MAISON SCOTCH that I picked up from Junction when I set about exploring it, it's got a gorgeous leopard print, fits like a glove and has exquisite detailing. Sadly, it doesn't seem to be available online but I did spy some others in the Sliema store (there's also a store in Level 2, The Savoy but I haven't been there so not sure if they have it or not).

I decided to pair it with a baby pink bag from Coccinelle. I'm in absolute love with baby pink bags, they're just so cute and sweet and oh so perfect; scratch that I love baby pink anything -not just for kids..I swear..truly....please?. A plaid cashmere scarf, leather trousers and of course my Hunter boots (read this to understand the of course) were then the perfect siblings.

And have you noticed I had a hairstyle change? More layers were added and the length in general was reduced, I think this style suits my face much more and makes it appear less angular , thanks to Matthew at Toni and Guy Hilton or the great job.

Check out the little detail of the Maison Scotch logo on the zip - love it!
