Events Post : LUKE AZZOPARDI RICOCHET

That Luke has great vision and design skills and knows how to think outside the box is not exactly a news flash. In all his previous works, Luke has excelled at originality and exquisite tailoring. This collection, rises another notch both in the design and also in his use of fabrics - the fabrics, which are all from Camilleri Paris Mode, are absolutely stupendous, one might say majestic - brocades, velvet, silks, all make an appearance. However, as superb as the quality of the fabrics are, it is his play on combining these different fabrics and this combination of textures that captivated me - in an interesting twist, Luke even used pure silk upholstery material for one of his pieces.

Worth a specific mention is this dress below - this new fabric is made of a mix of pure silk and reflective nylon threads the result is meant to reflect and convey the image of water. It is also particularly good at being shaped to fit the body.

A lot of care given to the way the garments fall on the body, waists were enhanced exactly when they need to be, the right amount of cleavage was present and just all round perfect fits. I really felt that each model was selected carefully to wear just the right piece.

The styling of the show itself conveyed an image of power, the hairstyles by Lara Theuma were brilliant - beehives with a dramatic twist and the makeup by Adrianna was excellent. Interesting, coloured, lighting was used as though to reflect changing moods and feelings. Last but not least - loved the shoes which are all from ALDO (I've got a brilliant collaboration ongoing with ALDO you might want to check out).

To find out something more about Luke you can read my interview from earlier this week and you can also read up on last year's show and collection.

In the meantime some more photos are up on my facebook page.

Outfit Post - W all Need to be CURED

Some time ago I published an interview on new brand on the local scene RECURED. The brand asked me to wear one of their designs in a unconventional manner and I decided to showcase the idea of wearing a t-shirt with a puffy skirt and a sleeveless tuxedo blazer.

To add puffiness I added a tutu skirt under the skirt .. in some of the photos I actually allowed the tulle to show to give it a bit of a balletic feel.

Recured's designs are fresh and exciting and the brand has brilliant marketing and innovative ideas, super cool packaging too.

You can read their interview here and you can also buy their super funky tees right here (free shipping to Malta & Gozo)

Events Post : MFWA - Caroline Hili - Malta Fashion Week 2014 - Day 2

You know you've just seen a brilliant collection when members of the audience walk up a long flight of steps in high heels to see the clothes up close and personal and ask the designers to reserve pieces for them; instead of going directly for a glass of wine.

Praise for tonight is twofold, the organisers of the event did a brilliant, brilliant job in setting up the event on the steps of Renzo Piano as they are known in Valletta, the lighting was perfect, the mood captured the vibe perfectly and the model timing was spot on. Speaking of the models, their walks really rose to the occasion today with many of the models giving their best ever catwalk performance.

Next praise of course now goes to the divine Caroline Hili. When you meet Caroline Hili and learn that she's a fashion designer who has worked for some of the biggest names in the industry, it simply makes sense. Caroline screams elegance, from the manner in which she speaks, to her natural poise and beauty...I always expected something brilliant from her. She did not disappoint in any way, shape or form - the collection simply couldn't be better. From a white pantsuit that looked perfect from all angles, to a silver dress with the cutest flounce hem, to stunning gowns...there's a lot to tickle one's fancy. It is very evident from these pieces that Caroline knows a thing or two about the craft of fashion design and understands a woman's body and how to enhance it. She also seems to know just what women want  and her pieces are striking without being overwhelming and stylish without being over-the-top trendy. I applaud her good taste.

And here are my favourite looks of the night - all photos by Kurt Paris.

Random Post : Proskins Slim - 52 days later - My Review

I  really must apologise ....you were meant to get this second review after 34 days but I decided to delay so as to be able to talk about maintenance and also because Easter with all it's chocolate moments came up and I felt like an absolute fraud talking about slim leggings whilst stuffing my face......

So first of all, lets start with what I did - I wore the top and leggings for 8 hours a day minimum, generally much longer for the first 28 days. Then I shortened it to a minimum of 6 hrs per day but still every day and this is still my current behaviour. I also try my best to wear them after a big meal.
So lets review the claims individually

Claim 1: Reduces the Appearance of Cellulite
As already mentioned, the cellulite on my thighs has reduced a lot, and my thighs feel firmer, a little dimple or two are still there so it wasn't completely eliminated but then again my diet hasn't exactly been stellar of late.

Claim 2: Reduces Water Intention
Yes, yes and yessss. I still think this is probably the best  part about these products, they really minimise bloating,  I sleep in them after gluttony dinners and my stomach won't be bloated the next day :)

Claim 3: Tones and Moisturises
This is still not really anything I have anything to say much about .....my skin is always dry in winter and it was still dry throughout these 52 days.

Claim 4: Regulates Body Temperature
Yes but bear in mind that the fabric is not wind blocking, if it is the warmth factor you are after, wear another layer on top,  I feel really comfortable when I wear them

To Summarise: I still think these products are a great, amazing invention and in fact I'm thinking of getting a capri pair of leggings / shorts to wear over the summer period :D

These products are available to purchase in Malta - ‘Proskins Malta’ on Facebook or call 9983 2022.

Shopping Post : Visiting GEORGE (by Asda) in Gozo, Malta

As already mentioned, a few weeks ago, I was in Gozo for the long weekend and of course it wouldn't be me if a spot of shopping wasn't involved. After some flea market thrifting, I also decided to visit the mega popular George at Duke''s Shopping Mall and see what the Gozo store was like; first time in this outlet.

So for this week's edition of Caroline hits a shop and shows you what's in stock we've got GEORGE in Gozo. The store is nice and spacious and well lit, they've got some great deals as always, some lovely casual, highly affordable clothes in nice bright colours and fun slogans. An excellent range of underwear and swimwear was also in store. And I can't fail to mention the adorable kids section, so cute, so lovely, did I mention cute?

Check out my pics of SPOTTED items below:

Cute, sneakers !
My two favourite things in the store - a denim shirt dress and a blue polka dot satchel bag

Loving the Polka!!
For people like me who are always freezing !!
Don't forget that George caters for plus sizes too.

Happy Shopping !!!

Random Post : Proskins Slim - 24 days later - My Review

I was planning on writing my review on the Proskins Slim Clothes after the 28 day challenge had passed but have already gotten way too many requests from all of you asking me how I'm finding them --- so I decided that you're getting this review now and since I have no intention of stopping to wear these clothes..you can get another one in 10 days time.

So first of all lets start with what I did - I wore the top and leggings for 8 hours a day minimum, generally longer for 24 days. I sometimes slept in them, but in general, I found this not to be as comfy as sleeping with my pjs.

So lets review the claims individually

Claim 1: Reduces the Appearance of Cellulite
They Worked!! I was quite impressed by this - I saw a change after just two weeks in the  on my legs and I think it has reduced by quite a bit, there's still a bit left but I think this will probably go as I continue to wear them. I had expected them to take much longer to work.

Claim 2: Reduces Water Intention
YES !!! This is probably the best and worst part about these products, let me rephrase, they are the best and worst things to wear after a big meal. Best because they really work and help minimise bloating and worst because they feel uncomfortable around your expanded stomach. I slept in them after a few big dinners and the difference in how bloated my stomach was the day after amazed me....

Claim 3: Tones and Moisturises
Not really sure about this one, I did feel the tonality of the skin on my thighs improved but I'm also a regular gym goer and the type of workouts I do (I change these around) also makes a difference...re moisturising, I still got dry skin, not sure if this is less or the same than when I don't wear them.

Claim 4: Regulates Body Temperature
Yes and No: The top is an excellent base layer...I tend to freeze and this really makes a difference, it keeps me warm in cold environments and at the same time I don't start sweating in stuffy places or when the lovely bright sun is out. The fabric is however not in any way wind blocking so when I wore the leggings alone, I still felt cold especially in the wind..however, when I wore them under thin tights they worked much better and I was super comfy running around in them all day in Florence.

Lots of you have asked me how to wear them..I wear them under shorts, under skirts, under long tunic tops, under loose fitting trousers and once even under jeans!

Wearing My Proskins!

To Summarise: I think these products are a great, amazing invention and I will definitely purchase again when they've run their course...brilliant way to shape up for bikini season

These products are available to purchase in Malta - ‘Proskins Malta’ on Facebook or call 9983 2022.

Outfit Post : Sunday in Gozo = Thrifting, Leopard, Denim Overalls & Pink Brogues

So I'm in beautiful, relaxing Gozo for the long, somewhat sunny, (too windy unfortunately) weekend and of course what best to do on a Sunday in Gozo - visit the local markets of course! Gozitan fashion blogger friend Daniel Azzopardi from Devil Wears Praduh told me about this flea market that would be happening in Victoria from 9-11 sooo at 9 a.m I woke up the hubby and started moaning and pleading to get out of the house and go a-thrifting :D

If you follow me on facebook you may have read one of my recent posts about denim dungarees; I asked you all what you thought of them and the general consensus was positive, some preferring fitted versions, others looser. I mentioned that I planned on getting a pair from Jennyfer and well - I did :D So of course I had to wear them today..along with a new hat I picked up from Patrizia Pepe in Florence that's a great mix of leopard and camouflage. After the thrift market, it was photo time, I put the hubby to work :)

Photos by Kurt Paris

These denim overalls have a relaxed boyfriend style fit with torn denim patches, I really like the wash, it's a cross between dark and light with stonewash patches, I also added a brooch I bought from the market :)

You may remember these pink brogues I bought at The Clothes Show Live in Birmingham last December, I know they're not everyone's cup of tea but I'm still a child hopelessly in love with pink and I refuse to apologise :) They did get a lot of attention from all the 3/4 year old kids at the market though which of course amused the hubby no end.

And..if you had caught this post...you'll recognise this bag from Bling Bling Boutique..I'm still in love with it, such lovely quality and I love how many things it can fit without looking too bulky.

Shoes : Truffle - The Clothes Show Live
Denim Overalls : Jennyfer
Bag : Bling Bling Boutique (Italian Leather)
Poloneck : Zara
Necklace : Primark
Sunglasses : Ray Ban
Hat : Patrizia Pepe
Hair : Blowdried by Sarah Vella at Toni&Guy Hilton, Malta

Leave me a comment and let me know what you think of this outfit especially the pink shoes :P
