Family Corner : Swimwear at KIABI

Many adults hate swimwear due to the obvious fact that all body since are laid out in full view. Kids thankfully don't have our body issues so they're free to wear whatever cutest pieces are on the market. Although I don't have kids myself, from what I've been told,  it's best to have many different options, kids tend to *ahem* manage to find different and interesting ways to ensure they get as filthy as possible  - nd then they want to change.
For this reason, KIABI's budget range is absolutely excellent and they've got some really nice ones too, I'm quite taken with all the accessories too - hats and jelly shoes!

Frills, frills, frills - shall I say it again?

 Flick through the slideshow below

Don't forget about those cute little bucket hats - both for boys and girls :)

Look at those little shoes back there in the back ...

Family Corner : Little Girls Wear PINK

After a hiatus in my Friday Morning Family Corner Series - I'm back and today the focus is on little girls between 0 - 18 months.

The new summer stock (did you know there ae entire fashion departments dedicated to babies ?) is in the stores now so I visited KIABI to check out they're new offerings.

As usual, it's cute as a button and some of the items look like little doll clothes. I'm especially in love with this t-shirt below - I still love those little miss characters. Imagine this little t-shirt paired with a tutle-style white skirt or with  a pair of skinny jeans and trainers.

And the shoes !! - there's something about little shoes that makes me melt.

Especially, as they start to get older, I really enjoy seeing children dressed in 'trendy' adult-style clothes that are of course still age-appropriate. This denim jacket below is a perfect example.

It's also time for swimwear

And for some more of what caught my eye:

Family Corner : Maternity & Newborn

I'm starting off with an apology, my trip to Rome and planning away for approaching fashion weeks meant I lost a bit of control with trying to put up certain posts on certain days and my weekly Friday Family Corner post got a bit sidelined. This week at least it's just one day late at least, I think writing about this on Valentine's is fitting - I know there's going to be lots of chocolates and food and roses and hugs and kisses around and social media postings of said gifts. My post today is a shopping post dedicated to those celebrating the love of a newborn child (by buying them clothes :P) or the love of an approaching child (by buying yourself clothes).

As mentioned before KIABI are my sponsors for this family series and I think their maternity range is one of the cleverest (read comfortable and easy to wear) around ..their kiddie clothes are adorable.

I have a niece to buy for now - yipeeee - which might be a good time to point out that my choice of newborn clothes might be a bit gender biased - sorry !! .

So here goes some shopping options:

Jeans with a comfortable , soft waistband

Simple, pretty, bright, long tunic top

Greattt denim dress - lovee this one

And for the little ones - a scrumptious does of cuteness

 Tooooo cute

And some more Maternity Clothes Options in this slideshow below - ten points for that long black cardigan and the pretty monochrome dress

Family Corner : Auntie Time

As you know, Friday is Family Corner time and today is bit special because I'm just become an auntie - yep it has been one eventful week - what with still ongoing birthday celebrations and waiting for the baby to arrive  - a lot has happened. It's a wonderful, baby girl and I'm looking forward to clad her in the pinkest, cutest items money can buy, possibly for the rest of her life :P.

With that in mind, all I can think of is baby items today so if you're not in the mood of looking at baby and kids stuff, I apologise :)

Family Corner : The Moby Wrap

For this week's edition of the Family Corner I wanted to find a gadget that's a bit unique. Actually I found many more gadgets than I bargained for - who knew babies were such gadget-using members of society but the one that struck me most is this Moby Wrap. It seems very scary but ultimately brilliant, such a lovely way to hold your baby.

Apparently there are a lot of fake products out there so don't just order it from anywhere - the original website is located in the US but this ebay store and this online store and this other online store also seem genuine. These two articles article 1 and article 2 describe how to tell if it is a genuine product or not and of course you can always email the official US store to ask them before buying.

Family Corner : What The Boys Wore

For last week's Family Corner I styled and shot 3 very pretty girls in KIABI clothing. In this week's episode it's all about the BOYS now - I've styled and shot 2 boys in KIABI clothing.

The first outfit is all about 'formal wear' - this shirt and tie is simply 'dahling'.

Shirt : 9.99 euros / Jeans (range between 7 - 14 euros)

Next up is an outfit for a rainy day - a good quality fully waterproofed jacket is something every kid should own, that way they can play around without getting wet and chilled. These are also excellent at blocking wind too.

Shoes : 17:95 euros / Jacket : 19.95 euros / T-Shirt 7.99 euros / Jeans (range between 7 - 14 euros)

Family Corner : Gifts for Babies

Xmas Time - Oh Xmas Time - time to buy stuff (pressies) for little, little babies and what's a better present than soft, cute toys, rattles and dummy holders. Soooo here's another edition of Family Corner with Xmas gifts in focus and I have to say kids get all the cutest stuff and the best toys and games...

The hardest gift to buy is when you're buying for a baby that hasn't yet been born and you're still clueless as to what gender the baby shall have. In this case, neutral colours such as grey, yellow and white are your best options...generally, if I have to, I prefer to swing slightly towards something more masculine rather than feminine, little girls still look cute in blue for e.g. but most parents will frown at a little boy wearing pink.

Another lovely option is a scarf, hat and mittens set ......I know some babies hate gloves and hats so this might not be an option for every baby...but ohh look how cute they are.

All the items in these photos are available from KIABI in Qormi along with a whole host of other kids and baby items including a huge range of shoes. Like most other shops around Malta, They're open every day at the moment.

Family Corner : BABIES & TODDLERS @ Kiabi

Maybe it's the fact that I'm soon to become an aunt (hurrah!) that's increasing this factor, but I find that whenever I look at 'little' clothes I just want to buy everything - there's just something so cute about a little pair of shoes, a little frilly dress, a little shirt and tie and..well.. basically anything little, it's the little that does it.

I apologise for missing last week's edition of the Family corner, too many things happened last week and I simply lost track of time - but hey you get it bright and early on a Tuesday morning.

The miniature UGG-like shoes in the first cover pic are 6.99 euros.

I think it's a must that a little girl has a fur waist coat - because I love pink (comes as a shock right?) I'd choose the pink tie-dyed one below but the black one above is equally great. Both are only 9.99 euros.

cozy, cuddliness - 19.99 euros
Who wouldn't buy their child a panda zip-up ?  - 12 euros

Some people who knew me when I was about two years old say they always seem to remember me wearing pretty dresses and swishing them about- maybe that's why when it comes to girl's clothes I tend to gravitate towards the pretty dresses. Love this one in the pic above - 14 euros.

Family Corner : Toddlers have STYLISTS

North West - need I introduce?, Kim K’s minion - has a stylist - yes she does - a 1 year old has a stylist. She also wears black leather, slogan sweaters and pieces an adult might consider ‘too much’.

I don’t remember everything about my childhood but I have flashes and photos in my brain of what I looked like, what I got passionate about and what I cried about. According to my mother I always liked clothes, especially pretty dresses but I was stubborn and willful and insisted on quarreling about whatever it is my mother wanted to dress me in.

I do remember daily arguments, one especially - my mother insisting on wrapping me up and me insisting that I was feeling hot, strange part is that fast forward to adult state and I continually pile on layers and remain freezing.
My mother often queries this, wondering how I feel so cold now…*niggling suspicion & lingering memory*...I wasn't actually feeling hot as a child ...just *ahem* being willful…..might even have spent days feeling cold as a result but we might just keep that one to ourselves….

However, to be fair, the photos in my brain of my childhood clothes involve flowers, lots of pink and just general childhood cuteness...no photos of black leather outfits there - so this must have been why I quarreled with my mother and I was missing the stylist component - so let’s face it my arguments were justified right

I've decided that Kim got her toddler a stylist because she doesn't want to quarrel with North or maybe she is afraid North will develop a personal style that doesn't involve amplifying your assets.
North on the other hand, seems to be playing her cards just right - if she’s willful it’s not like the stylist will complain to mummy and take away her sweets & toys right ?
On that note, here are some little girl picks from the web (might be possible to find some of these locally too) - sorry North I've left the leather out of this one.

Let me know what you think - should a toddler have a stylist ?

Family Corner : Little Girls Need Jackets

And just like that, it's suddenly cold in Malta (we'll see how long it lasts), it's time to start pulling out the jackets, especially for the little ones.

As promised, there are going to be more family related posts on my blog and I've titled the category 'Family Corner' - Like it?

Kiabi are my main partner for this project - they've got such a huge selection of kids clothes / maternity / baby cute-as-hell pieces - the shop gives me lots of little avenues and sidewalks to explore and walk into.

Soooo little girls need their jackets and most little girls I know want cute ones, not necessarily pink, I get that not every girl cries for 30 minutes at a birthday party because she wasn't given a pink balloon (I actually remember this) but I think they still need to be pretty and these ones are all just 'dahling'.

The top most minnie-mouse-silver-jacket is more of a raincoat than a jacket - it's also my favourite, partly because I love minnie but also because I love the fabric, it's also the most expensive at 27.99 euros. These next two pics show warmer anorak-style jackets and are quite a bit cheaper, still super cute, loving the floral one.

Both 14.99 EUROS

Below, the top  jacket is another raincoat-style piece priced at 14.99 euros, the one below it is available in larger sizes for more grown-up girls but I'm not sure of the price.

Jackets can't be worn alone and I love kids in jeans especially patterned / coloured ones. Having more than one jeans option in your child's wardrobe can be such a time-saver..so many different outfits can be created by simply switching from plain jeans to patterned.

Would love love love to hear what you think of this 'Family Corner' project - Leave a comment Pretty Please - good or bad :)

Shopping Post : Men and Blazers

I love a man in a nice suit, after all, give me a perfectly tailored blue suit and a crisp white shirt ad it onto a dashing man aka James Bond (Sean Connery) and I'm good to go. A lot of men however, don't feel quite the same way about suits...a few too many of them detest wearing suits..With more and more companies abandoning the idea of formal dress codes for work and accepting casual wear, men have now grown accustomed to being comfortable and now view suits as though they are little, evil, green-headed monsters...created with the sole purpose of making men suffer.

Enter the BLAZER, the humble blazer owes its origins to the pedigree of the United Kingdom. To be precise to the Lady Margaret Boat Club (the rowing club of St. John's College, Cambridge), the men wore red blazers in the 1800s. The great thing about a blazer, whilst still ultimately being a fitted jacket is that it can be worn over a t-shirt, over jeans, over a crisp white shirt...basically does not call for the whole formal ensemble but it still can be worn that way if wanted.

One of the best places to buy a nice male blazer from is Tommy Hilfiger, they have lovely tweed and velvet options which along with plaid, are my current fave blazer types.

Some picks rom Tommy Hilfiger Malta below : Although these pics show them styled with ties and shirts, this is not the only way to wear them, they'd look really great over a sweater/v-neck/t-shirt/open shirt!

And because little boys should look as good as their dads....

In Malta, Tommy Hilfiger Stores can be found in Baystreet Shopping Complex Paceville and in Valletta.Hilfiger Denim Stores can be found at The Point and in also Valletta (in Valletta same store as Tommy Hilfiger - basement level).
