News Flash : A Burger and a T-Shirt

Over the past few years, fast food and fashion have been making an unlikely pairing. It all started when Moschino launched their McDonalds-inspired collection, the trend caught on in high street stores in a big way - with clothing items covered in pizzas, chips and burgers appearing everywhere and becoming sell out items. House of Holland even had nails created  and ASOS designed burger and fries plimsolls.

McDonald's, after all, is the actual original Moschino inspiration. They have decided to play their own fashion game and they started out in Paris at the iconic Colette store - they launched the specifically designed merchandise with pictorials resembling icons, like the ones used on tablets and apps (pic below). In Italy, they did something similar, they partnered up with the mega store Coin and even had skateboards designed.

Since you're on my blog and we're in Malta - yep you guessed it - they're launching the line for Malta, the style is similar, using the same images. There are a number of summer-related items - tote bags, towels, ball and racquets and my fave of the lot - t-shirts.

When this trend first made an appearance, I wasn't too sure I liked the idea of wearing fast-food but it did grow on me and there's an obvious humorous element to wearing a t-shirt with a bag of fries on it. I especially liek the idea of sunbathing on a burger towel on a sandy beach - that would be one interesting selfie opportunity.

So how do you get your hands on this stuff? Well their slogan is ‘Everybody is a Winner with McDonald’s’ from 19th June onwards and will involve a scratch card competition - so stay tuned.

Which T-Shirt would you want  ?- the ice cream / the burger or the fries? I think I want a burger.

Events Post : Cartier Exhibition in Paris

Back in January when I visited Paris, one of the most interesting things I did is visit the Cartier exhibition in Paris - Cartier: Style and History. There were around 600 pieces of jewellery, watches, clocks and different exhibits teamed with clothes and accessories, advertising photographs, engravings and fashion magazines.

I absolutely loved it, Cartier is one of the oldest jewellers around worldwide, it was founded in Paris, in 1847 by Louis-François Cartier and has always been synonymous with movie stars and royalty. It was famously favoured by both  Grace Kelly and Elizabeth Taylor.

The exhibit was wonderful, with artistic projections being continually projected onto the surrounding walls and a mix of both jewellery and interesting exhibits such as the first advertising campaigns and the first appearance of Cartier jewellery in fashion magazines.

Unfortunately I couldn't snap pictures of the exhibits that related to costume but I did manage to snap a lot of the most interesting jewellery pieces.. check them out below:

Absolutely stunning! When I think of the amount of work that must have gone into each of these pieces, I am truly humbled by the skill of these artisans.

Shopping Post : L'Atelier Paris

For this week's edition of Caroline hits a  shop and shows you their stock, I'm transporting you to Paris, to a delightful little shop I found in the Latin Quarter of Paris on rue Mouffetard L'Atelier. A shop selling the most exquisite handmade jewellery and some of the most stunning hats/ gloves and shawls I have ever encountered.

Immediately upon entering the store, I knew I had found a 'treasure'...the hats were what drew me in, well lets face it I am a hat person and there were so many beautiful ones, each one different, each one having something unique and original ..but when I was in there thee were so man things that drew my eye.. I couldn't leave.. I think I drew the poor woman mad..trying on hat after hat (and she patiently adjusted each one and showed me different ways to wear them) and picking up different things.

You can check out their website L'Atelier but if you find yourself in Paris, do hunt this shop down - you won't regret it.

Outfit & Event Post : Tartan, Gold, Leather & Doctor Martens

Last week I blogged about my visit to the launch of the La Prairie Cellular Range. On the day I actually had another event - remember Bling Bling ?..I wrote about it here, She organised an event at her store on the night related to make up and skincare and general personal grooming; she also had some key specialists over and it was all very nice and fun.

Here's what I wore to both events - I was mega excited to wear my DMs (Doctor Martens) for the first time - yippeee yey - 90s revival..I'm a child of the 90s so the return of DMs fills me with utmost glee especially because I actually skimped out the first time round, I didn't own a pair...this time I wasn't missing the boat.

I also decided to wear a tartan skirt that I bought at the star of Winter but for some reason has been sitting there awaiting the right occasion, my leather jacket and a super chic black hat I picked up in Paris. Last but not least a fab Coccinelle bag from their new Spring/Summer collection - isn't it super delicious ?..I love the gold hardware detailing and saddle shape.

Shoes : Doctor Martens / Bag : Coccinelle / Skirt : Zara / Leather Jacket : Moda International / Top : Old / Hat : Paris
