Outfit Post : Slogans and Shoes

Spring and sunny weather is finally here and I got to go out without a jacket !!! I've meaning to shoot a few photos wearing this fab 'Ommi Ma' sweater by Marco Parascandalo - ain't it fab ? Ommi Ma is a Maltese expression that translates literally to 'oh my mother' but in reality is more along the lines of 'oh my god'. This fab Maltese designer's winter collection took popular Maltese expressions like these and emblazoned them along sweater and t-shirts.

And if you look down at the photo below you can see my latest yellow babies (US Polo Assn from Stivaletti). I love the 70s-inspired wooden heels & platform and blue beading.

Outfit Post : Milan Fashion Week Day 2

On the second day of Milan Fashion Week, it was warm enough to not wear a coat and after 6 days of being bundled up I was quite happy to be without one. I decided to try a style (midi skirt + sweater + sneakers...I also really needed to rest my feet from any sort of heel) that I've never actually worn before, it was actually quite London catwalk inspired as I saw so many similar looks walking down the catwalk albeit a bit more fanciful or twisted. I also added slightly darker eye makeup.

You might realise / you might not, but my sweater is actually worn back-to-front, I decided I like it more like that ! I decided to do a spot of shopping on that day - you can't go to Milan and not shop and I was also gifted a lovely gift from La Perla ::D

Alsoooo if you look at my right hand I'm wearing a new watch - An ANDY BABY swatch, whilst in London I posted this photo to my instagram as part of their daily competition and I won, apparently it was all due to the pom poms.

Shopping : A Spot of Male Styling

Last Friday, I made my way to KIABI to style two men in the new, 'just arrived' collection. This collection is a really interesting one and I actually had trouble selecting only two outfits. This leather jacket in the pictures above and below caught my eye the minute I walked in. The quality is great, the smell of leather intoxicating and the style brilliant ..plus it's under 50 euros..what more do you want ? Next, my eyes gravitated towards this Star Wars t-shirt ..so much fun potential, there needs to be a female version  ! A pair of grey black jeans completed the look.

More pics in the slideshow below....

Next up I chose a casual blue-denim-grey look - loving this blue grey sweater in the picture below and these chinos have a really great fit. The denim jackets are also worth a mention, again really like their quality.

What To Wear : Christmas Lunch & MEN

Christmas Lunch is a tough one for both men and women - it's Xmas so there has to be some sort of 'dressing up', however it's also the time for eating and enjoying family and this means there has to be a good measure of comfort. For some of us, the days tend to be long and involve switching from one event to another. I've already written about what women should wear - now it's time for MEN.

I'm not differentiating between outfits for those eating in and those eating out, as I said, since a lot of people hop to more than one event, chances are that they'll need an outfit good for both situations..

  • Don't Wear a Rude/Religious Slogan T-Shirt
Christmas is a day for being at peace with others and spreading happiness, don't try to antagonise anyone.

  • Don't Wear Jogging Trousers
Chances are that your family members will be dressed smartly on this day, don't be the only one wearing joggers and trainers. Opt for a pair of smart chino-style trousers instead.

  • Don't Wear Tight Shirts

Christmas Day Lunch inevitably leads to a temporary expanding of the stomach...add that to an already tight shirt ..and we've got buttons popping all over the place.

  • Patterns might be a good idea

A lot of men I know are very talented at spilling sauce and other liquids onto their clothes...a multicoloured pattern is better at disguising such incidents than a block colour outfit.

  • Opt for a blazer
The great thing about a blazer is that it can be removed after it has served its purpose and made a great first impression.

And here's some outfit ideas I've put together - hope I've been useful...

What To Wear : Christmas Lunch & WOMEN

Christmas Lunch is a tough one for both men and women - it's Xmas so there has to be some sort of 'dressing up', however it's also the time for eating and enjoying family and this means there has to be a good measure of comfort. For some of us, the days tend to be long and involve switching from one event to another.

I'm not differentiating between outfits for those eating in and those eating out, as I said, since a lot of people hop to more than one event, chances are that they'll need an outfit good for both situations..

  • Don't Wear any Tight Dresses

For one thing, it's really not the right occasion for such an outfit, for another, you will feel restricted especially if there are any kids in your family you might want to play with.

  • Do Dress Up

Even if you're only staying in, christmas day is a chance to get a bit dolled up and look your best, you'll be happy when you see the photos.

  • Don't Wear Cheesy Xmas Sweaters

Whilst I love Christmas Sweaters, I tend to reserve them for boxing day / secret santa girl parties at home or other casual xmas-related events.  If you really want to wear a Christmas Sweater on Xmas day - at least don't wear one that looks like it was bought in a dollar store and team it with something extra chic like a pretty, glitzy skirt or brocade trousers.

  • Don't Put Cleavage On Show

This is not the day to promote boob 'ogling'

What To Wear

Below are a couple of things I picked out, in general terms, I like the idea of a long sleeved dress with black tights and ankle boots, a smart sweater worn over nice black woollen trousers or a very nice pair of jeans (in a dark wash). I also like the idea of wearing red but I also love monochrome and patterns.

I love ankle boots with thick heels - I think they're the best thing since sliced bread, they're sleek, they look polished and they're COMFORTABLE.

Events Post : PARASCANDALO Marco - Seriously Black

I had fun tonight, Marco's show and collection is edgy, fun, intelligent, witty and just plain cool. Black was the omnipresent colour as the title of the collection Seriously Black would imply. In an interview I conducted earlier this week, Marco described being inspired by his surroundings which are currently the local city of Birgu and it's quaint old but thriving vibe, his time spent in east london can also comes across in the overall look of his collection. There are many interesting pieces in this collection but his slogan sweaters are the standout items for me, but a mention must be given to the shirts, torn trousers and well actually everything.

For some 'people' photos check out my facebook page.

I really liked the collection and will definitely be adding one of these sweaters to my wardrobe - a big thumbs up to Marco.

Trends Post : A Cardigan & a Dress at MAX&Co

Whilst many are embracing the fact that the weather's changed and the hot summer days seem to be behind us ..I'm lamenting the fact that I've started to feel rather chilly. This means light jackets, shawls and of course little cardis and sweaters.
One of the looks I like most is the idea of wearing a dress and a cardigan like in this picture below.

I've said this before - whilst I appreciate androgynous fashion & I love edgy styling...sometimes, I wonder what happened to the princesses we dreamed about as little girls, where have they disappeared to in all that is fashion? One of the things I like about MAX&Co. as a brand, is that they have different trends and these trends tend to cater for a variety of styles - guess what one of them is called - Girl's Dream and yep it's filled with dresses, sparkly belts and sparkly shoes and lots of pretty, pretty items. There's a protagonist in the dream ofc and it's called Corolla (the dress in the pic below)

On a side note, one of the focuses of this theme is to be able to transition easily from day to night and a cardi or little jacket worn over a dress is a great way to do that. I also like to change handbag - sometimes what I do is carry around a large handbag during the day with a little mini one inside the large one, after my work-day is over - I simply switch. I also like to update  my lipstick, maybe go for a bolder colour at night.

What do you think, do you like the idea of cardigans and dresses ?

Outfit Post : Malta Fashion Week Launch Party - It's a World Full of Eyes - and a NEW blog

And so this is fashion week.......Malta fashion week 2014 begins. As has been customary for the last couple of years, the kick off was a launch party at Medasia, at which guests were plied with cocktails, yummy sushi & falafel bites and great music and conversation. There were also a couple of super cool outfits running around, both boys and girls...wohooooo...perfect start to my favourite week of the year.

You may also have noticed that I'm launching a brand new blog design..LOVE the design by the amazing The 9nth Wish, I also have a brand new logo that I think really epitomizes what me and my work is all about.

And now for the launch party outfit - it's all about Kenzo - my current favourite designer brand that has me regularly adding things to my shopping basket and then removing them and then of course re-adding later. I bought this iconic eye sweater in Paris last January, I had decided I was buying it before I got there but  the sales person informed me that it was sold out and I was sooo annoyed.....but I hung around the shop looking at other things and a few minutes later mysteriously saw him walking around with one that I grabbed and made mine.

The trousers, I bought later..I had always wanted to complete the set but kept trying to stop myself shopping - I failed and decided they'd make the perfect fashion week ensemble and therefore were necessary.

There were of course additions to the sweater and trousers combo and this came in the form of blue eye shadow, purple eye liner and blue mascara, chandelier earrings also from Paris (see I planned ahead) an exquisite, patterned new bucket patterned leather bag  and a very cool new pair of shoes that are actually really comfortable. Last but not least - check out this hairstyle by the ever-amazing Svetlana at Toni and Guy Hilton.

Outfit Post : I Would LOVE Me if I Were YOU

Last weekend, the hubby Kurt Paris, decided he wanted to shoot some model portraits in his studio, he rounded up a couple of people and off we went.

I was actually really happy with what I was wearing that day, I was wearing this new sweater that I picked up on sale from Stradivarius that I think is super cool and it has some pale pink in it !! Soo whilst the first model was getting her makeup done.we decided to have a go at shooting my outfit in the studio and I absolutely love the results...when Kurt first started out as a photographer I was his little model guinea pig, as the years progressed and his skill and expertise moved forward, he moved on to taller and better things :P...so I very rarely actually pose properly for him in the studio.. (I also suffer from very limited patience am very bad at following his instructions and therefore drive him crazy,  which might have something to do with it)...but anyway to cut a long story short... I really had fun!

The overall theme of both this shoot and outfit is FUN - there are hearts, there's pink and there's a hilarious slogan (hence the blog title) and ofc the photos are all about having fun :)

Shopping Post : A Pattern or Two?

I've spoken about my love for patterns on multiple occasions and thanks to the fashion universe powers they're still very much in vogue for 2014....Oasis, which is one of those few shops that really knows how to capture high street trends in a chic manner, making them also suitable for those women who are no longer teens, has a lovely selection of patterned clothing in their new stock.

POLKAAAAAA - I will never ever tire of polka dots.
Hearts are my second fave after polka dots.

Floral patterns have come such a long, modern way since the days of granny floral dresses!

Really love the way this mannequin is dressed in the store..love the colours, the polka dot worn with stripes....and love the chunky floral necklace- super duper!

Remember that Oasis Stores are at Tower Road Sliema & Zachary Street Valletta and do check out and LIKE their Facebook
