Family Corner : Maternity Wear at KIABI

From what I've heard, being heavily pregnant in summer isn't all that great what with the summer heat, summer weddings, parties, BBQs and events - apparently, generally, many pregnant women end up hot and bothered. Whilst clothes can't solve the heat problem, new clothes can hopefully generate a few smiles at the very least especially easy-to-wear summer dresses.

Family Corner : Father's Day Present Ideas

For today's family corner post, I'm focusing on Daddy - it's Father's Day on the 21st June - pencil that in everyone. Now I don't know what the case may be when it comes to your dads, but I find mine really difficult to buy presents for. I already think male-oriented gifts are much more limited than female-oriented ones, but then with dads, I mean, after a few years, you've pretty much used all the original ideas you could possibly ever have.

However, I spent some time scouting around a few sites and I did find a couple of things I thought were quite cool so here are a couple of ideas

1. Steam Cleaning Brush by Grill Daddy

Grill BBQs are usually the man's domain and that includes both cooking the meat and cleaning the bbq after - according to the specs, this brush makes it much easier and fun to do.

2. Baseball Caps

Most men love their baseball caps and generally since they don't subscribe to the rule 'buy 20 different things of everything' that women tend to, they shouldn't have too many. I love this Barbour cap and this Hugo Boss one.

3. Build Your Own Burger Book

A book that's all about mixing and matching different ingredients to create fantastic and original burgers. Many men I know would love this.

4. An Oversized Beer Mug

If the dad in question loves his beer, then this mug is a brilliant idea.

5. And for something extra special...

Family Corner : Swimwear at KIABI

Many adults hate swimwear due to the obvious fact that all body since are laid out in full view. Kids thankfully don't have our body issues so they're free to wear whatever cutest pieces are on the market. Although I don't have kids myself, from what I've been told,  it's best to have many different options, kids tend to *ahem* manage to find different and interesting ways to ensure they get as filthy as possible  - nd then they want to change.

For this reason, KIABI's budget range is absolutely excellent and they've got some really nice ones too, I'm quite taken with all the accessories too - hats and jelly shoes!

Family Corner : River Island goes MINI

River Island is a store we associate mainly with trendy, edgy, looks not really cute looks, but that's changing - because slap, bang in the middle of the shop is the cutest section you'll ever see - RIVER ISLAND MINI. 

The clothes are this darling mixture of grown-up patterns and cuts, mixed with cute little touches that make you want to snap up everything.

The sizes run from 0-3 years and there are both boys and girls clothes including accessories (baby sun visor anyone ?). I dare anyone to step into the store and not melt.

In other news, tomorrow River Island Malta turns 1 and they've got a brilliant promotion going on in store. Until today, in store, they're giving out these discount cards with a picture symbol on them. 

The symbol means a percentage discount (up to 100%) but you need to go to the store tomorrow to find out what your symbol means and use it. 

That's not all, any purchase will also be given a 5 euros voucher to use on RIVER ISLAND MINI so it's an all round win.

If you don't have a card and can't drop by the store today - tomorrow at 3 pm I will be giving out 11 cards to the first 11 people who come up to ask me for one so see you there .

Family Corner : Little Girls Wear PINK

After a hiatus in my Friday Morning Family Corner Series - I'm back and today the focus is on little girls between 0 - 18 months. 

The new summer stock (did you know there ae entire fashion departments dedicated to babies ?) is in the stores now so I visited KIABI to check out they're new offerings.

As usual, it's cute as a button and some of the items look like little doll clothes. I'm especially in love with this t-shirt below - I still love those little miss characters. Imagine this little t-shirt paired with a tutle-style white skirt or with  a pair of skinny jeans and trainers.

And the shoes !! - there's something about little shoes that makes me melt.

Especially, as they start to get older, I really enjoy seeing children dressed in 'trendy' adult-style clothes that are of course still age-appropriate. This denim jacket below is a perfect example.

Family Corner : Baby Blankets

When I first found out these baby blankets existed at KIABI, I honestly wished I was a baby. as an adult who sleeps with you know sheets and quilts and throw over blankets, I really hate it when the sheets get untucked from under the mattress and move around. If you share a bed with someone, this person might sometimes decide they need more blanket love leaving you out there in the cold all hurt and sad...I do know there are sleeping bags for adults but I somehow feel a bit strange about crawling into a sleeping bed every night - the hubby might find it even stranger....

Now if you're a baby - well then babies have it good- they get tucked in and kissed and all cosied up into the cutest baby blankets around that are just like sleeping bags. If only babies could speak and you know use technology - they would rule the world.

Besides these fabulous baby blankets - I also discovered that they get to wear hooded towels after  they've had their bath - isn't that the cutest ?

And for the last spotted item from KIABI - STORAGE BOXES. I own a lot of stuff and I'm not good with chucking things out, if I had a kid this would probably become a serious issue - I have a feeling I'd buy one of each of these boxes below.

Family Corner : Maternity & Newborn

I'm starting off with an apology, my trip to Rome and planning away for approaching fashion weeks meant I lost a bit of control with trying to put up certain posts on certain days and my weekly Friday Family Corner post got a bit sidelined. This week at least it's just one day late at least, I think writing about this on Valentine's is fitting - I know there's going to be lots of chocolates and food and roses and hugs and kisses around and social media postings of said gifts. My post today is a shopping post dedicated to those celebrating the love of a newborn child (by buying them clothes :P) or the love of an approaching child (by buying yourself clothes).

As you know, Friday is Family Corner time and today is bit special because I'm just become an auntie - yep it has been one eventful week - what with still ongoing birthday celebrations and waiting for the baby to arrive  - a lot has happened. For this week's edition of the Family Corner I wanted to find a gadget that's a bit unique. Actually I found many more gadgets than I bargained for - who knew babies were such gadget-using members of society but the one that struck me most is this Moby Wrap. It seems very scary but ultimately brilliant, such a lovely way to hold your baby. 

Apparently there are a lot of fake products out there so don't just order it from anywhere - the original website is located in the US but this ebay store and this online store and this other online store also seem genuine.These two articles article 1 and article 2 describe how to tell if it is a genuine product or not and of course you can always email the official US store to ask them before buying.

Family Corner : What The Boys Wore

For last week's Family Corner I styled and shot 3 very pretty girls in KIABI clothing. In this week's episode it's all about the BOYS now - I've styled and shot 2 boys in KIABI clothing.


The first outfit is all about 'formal wear' - this shirt and tie is simply 'dahling'.
